    OK

    I'm in the final stages of designing my new T400. My last question covers the warrenty service.

    Whats the difference between 3 year depot 9x5 Next Business Day and 3 Year Depot Upgrade with 3 Year ThinkPad Protection?

    Protection is like accidental protection, not just your normal warranty issues.

    3 year depot 9x5 Next Business Day - normal warranty; covers stuff when it breaks; they pay for overnight shipping to them and then overnight it back to you.

    3 Year Depot Upgrade with 3 Year ThinkPad Protection - same as above, but it also covers things You break, not just things that break on their own...like when your online girlfriend breaks up with you and you punch the screen and break it. they'll replace it for free.

    according to lenovo:
    Whats covered (with thinkpad protection)?
    * Damage from drops and falls under normal use
    * Damage from electrical surges
    * Liquid spills
    * LCD damage

    Depot means that you ship your unit to the repair facility . Next day refers to how long it will take on the shipping ends of the initial and final transaction.

    If you're mainly stationary, then probably not worth the accidental damage coverage. If you're constantly on the go, then probably worth it for the peace of mind. Depends on how much it costs. The cost for these plans seems to vary with time. Guess I'm just stating the obvious.
