Hi all,
Following instructions found online, I removed my X200's keyboard last night, washed it thoroughly and let it dry overnight. Finished off the drying with a hairdryer...not a drop of moisture in sight.
Reinstalled it today and immediately on boot-up, the mouse moves on it's own to the top righthand corner of the screen. I though maybe it was recalibrating itself, but no, it will not stop rushing to the top right corner.
Did I screw this up? Funny how not one how-to mentioned this risk.
Also, are there water sensors on the keyboard? It's still under warranty and I want to know if Lenovo will replace it. After all, they advertise a spill proof feature so water + keyboard shouldn't = denied warranty. That and I removed it from all power during the whole cleaning process.
Thanks.

the water must have gone into trackpoint sensor. Go into your bios disable the trackpoint and see whether the problem comes back or not.
Do not wash your keyboard, this is not something you should do unless it is the last resort.
Moisture due to capillary effect can get into crevices and tiny openings. -
Is there any way for him to see the water damage? Hate to be shady about this but I screwed up by not being honest to begin with... -
on the keyboard, not really.

Don't think the keyboard has a water damage marker, so unless it's visibly obvious, he won't be able to tell.
Probably should've let it dry for longer than one night, though. Even after I wash my keyboard skin, there's still moisture that doesn't completely evaporate away for quite some time.
Have you tried disabling the TrackPoint (use Fn + F8 or through BIOS) and testing? Also, if you didn't take off your TrackPoint cap before washing the keyboard, water could be between it and the black plastic pressure stick. If so, remove the cap now and dry it now. -
I dunno. Maybe the hair dryer did the trick; the rapid heating may have caused various gaps in components to open up due to the rapid temperature change.

Ah, whatever. I talked with the tech and he will have it replaced.
He said water is no biggie even though I never said that was the issue. The part will be here Thursday and installed then.
Lenovo warranty is pretty amazing, IMO. -
It must have fully dried because it works fine now...

It generally requires more time than you think.
