I have an x61- which I understand if I use a 4 cell battery with, will weigh 1.41kg. I have replaced the HDD with an SSD.

Is there any other way of reducing the weight? Are there any components I can remove inside? I only need the wireless- I do not need USB/audio etc.

    No.

You can pull out the modem card and run the machine with a single stick of RAM but that's about it.

You could replace the heat sink with an aluminum one, if you don't already have one that is.

You can also install the "Ultralight" Display, but good luck finding one of those!
