    Hi all,

I recently ordered a X200 with a 9cell li-on battery and got it a few days ago. However, I find that the weight of the laptop is ridiculously heavy, it's not where near to what it's advertised as super-ultra light on lenovo's website. I am now thinking whether I should purchase a 4cell li-on battery instead as it's not very convenient to carry it around. Do you guys have any idea how much the 4-cell battery weigh less than 9-cell battery? I tried to email the lenovo virtual store and they said they have no speicific information on the weight of the battery. I am afraid that the 4cell li-on battery is still gonna be weighting as heavy. Please help!

I am sure that as with any laptop battery, there will be a weight reduction, and from 4 cell to an extended 9 cell, it will be noticeable, but so will battery life. It will probably cut in half, with a 35-50% weight reduction. This is all just assumption, but I would say if you value the battery life over weight, stick with the 9. You can always offer to trade it here on these forums, buy another, or see if a 6 cell is offered. My 2 cents...

You do realize that a bigger battery doesn't magically weigh the same as a smaller battery right? The advertised lightest config of the x200 is about 2.95 lbs with the 4cell. And it is about 3.6lbs with the 9cell. These were easy numbers to find in reviews/published documents :\. We also have some other x200 threads here that you could have searched.

man i must not be spoiled with 2 pound laptops because last time i checked - 3.6 pounds is rediculously light for a full powered laptop.

and dare i say it, might even be the lightest full voltage processor laptop ever? can't think of one that beats it

i mean 2.9-3.6 pounds is usually 99% of the time: low voltage processors, ultra low volatge, etc

That Sony Z is a nice laptop, but it is was way way overpriced at over three thousand for those specs when you bought it new (granted I hope it was worth it for what you needed it for). On the other hand, you can get an X200 for under $1,000 and it blows the Sony Z you bought out of the water in most benchmarks. I think you're trying to sell your laptop at too high a price considering you can get a newer model, the Z520 for about $200 more and is a much better deal. The ont thing the Sony you have their has that disqualifies it as an office performer is the keyboard.. Horrible flex and keyboard is too small with flat keys. If you are going to do a lot of typing, get the X200...

it was 2199 plus 300 for battery and like 300 warranty, and 7% tax

the t400 I bought was 1500 including tax, I am probably going to put the sz on ebay

i haven't been putting my laptop on the weight, but i am pretty sure the x200 with the 9cell li-on battery is much heavier than 3.6lbs as advertised. i had a SONY all-in-one that i got 2/3 years ago and that is even lighter than the x200 with 9cell.

Really....you're going off what you think...........

Take out the battery. Pick up the laptop sans battery. It is light. The 9cell adds significant weight vs the 4cell (and probably a lb+ vs the laptop with no battery at all). And your comparison to the sony is pointless when you're trying to discern if you think the published weight is correct or not...

yes but, the 6 cell on the x200 is 3.24 pounds....meaning if the sony had the 9 cell, it would probably be over 3.6

so it still seems to me, the lightest ever for a full voltage

weight is basically all relative....if you have had a 6 pound laptop all your live - 3.6 is amazing....if you have had a 2 pound laptop, then 3.6 is just way too heavy

Agreed. I used a 5 pound T40 for years and I thought it was quite manageable. My 3.6 pound x200 feels fantastic and light to me, although the 9 cell battery definitely adds a lot to its weight (without a battery it feels like a feather due to the high surface area and limited weight). The other thing worth mentioning is that the x200 contains a full Thinkpad T series keyboard, and provides a much better typing experience than ANY other ultraportable.

Ya I agree. I came form a 15.4inch laptop and it feels great in weight relativity.

If >1 pound is causing you problems, then you've got other stuff to worry about.

Have you actually weighed the laptop? I'm sorry it's not as light as you expected, but perhaps your expectations of what 3.5lbs is is what's off.

Unfortunately the 9-cell does add quite a bit of weight. I'm thinking of getting a 4 or 6-cell to use when i don't need the battery life. But seriously, if you think this laptop is so heavy that it's not convenient to carry around...umm....

I just goy my X200 and I am disappointed.

    The 9-cell battery is heavy.

Sony's Z series is much lighter than X200 when I compared to my friend's side by side.

If you have the money, go for Z series, you will have a MUCH better screen.

With X200 you have to cripple many features to get the battery life.
