    Hi guys,

Yesterday I've upgraded my T500 to 6 GB of ram (4 GB + 2 GB) but I'm having a weird behavior with the screen on some applications. This doesn't happen all the time but I was able to capture a moment where it was really severe:

Switching back to 2+2 GB solves this issue.

Anyone experienced anything similar or know what might be the cause?

Let me guess... you're running Windows 7?

Same problem here on a T400s. I found others who had the same issue and the answer is to use old drivers. You need to use Vista drivers.

Go search for version 7.15.10.1502. They are vista and when you install you're going to have to change the compatibility of the setup executable to Vista so they install. But I've installed these and had no issues for the past few days, where as the ones from Lenovo, the ones from Windows update, and the updated ones on Intel's site, all for Windows 7, would cause this issue.

I also have 4+2 in my notebook, but I don't have another 2GB to test 2+2 and I won't run with just a single 2 to test that either. Not enough ram!

But I'm running great with 7.15.10.1502 and 4+2 now.

    Correct, I'm using Windows 7.

I actually haven't installed any display drivers, I used the ones that come with Windows 7 (8.15.10.1808).

I'll hunt down the ones you mentioned and install them.

    Thanks!

There seems to be an issue with the Intel Win7 video drivers if you have two different size memory modules. I had the same issue of my T400 when I had 3GB ram -- no such problem after I upgraded to 4GB.

Using the Vista drivers seems to alleviate the issue significantly.

Then it's a driver problem and not a Windows 7 problem.

But the driver is integrated within Windows 7 so I'd say this would be a bug that should've been corrected before the RTM.

Microsoft doesn't write the drivers, they're either generic device drivers or made by the mfg and then placed in the driver files.

Msft isn't responsible for every single driver available in their windows.
