Well, I won't say it's not an amusing problem...

So the Lenovo 3000 C100 I've been using recently started playing all sounds what sounds like several octaves too high. I can't really think how else to put it...even when I adjust the volume, the 'bonk' sound it makes is a ridiculously high pitch.

In spite of this fact I tried playing video/music files using different programs, which not surprisingly made no difference. I also messed around with volume control, but I couldn't figure anything out.

Every single sound that comes out is too high, including windows log off tones, etc. The problem persists when I plug in headphones or external speakers.

I've amused myself for a while playing Les Miserables and listening to Javert sound like Fantine, but it's becoming seriously annoying...

Any help or insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :) :)

ps. Lenovo 3000 C100, like I mentioned, and running Windows XP. As far as I recall, it's been doing this for less than a month.

Check your audio card settings. Sometimes it has an automatic key transposer that will raise or lower sounds based on your preferences.

Check that out, maybe your settings got all whacked out.

i say if you can't figure it out you should just uninstall all the drivers, software that came with the audio and then reinstall. if that doesn't work it may just be a hardware issue...
