So I thought I was going to get a Lenovo, but I guess not. The X61s promised to shipped out on the 17th, but it looks like they are running into "supply constraints". Lenovo is a very deceptive company and is definitely no IBM. I was lied to from rep to rep, their menu lists no choice on where to go to cancel an order. The sales team is who can cancel your order and as I was transferred to cancel, it took me over 15 minutes before I hung up. I never reached anyone. Then when I called back and selected "buy a system" from the menu, I was transferred in 30 seconds.![]()

I am sorry about your bad experience Sirius_GTO.
However I would like to say that I have had no problems with my T61p that I ordered through them. It does seem like Lenovo does have some supply problems though.

Yeah I was on pre-order for a Compal IFL90 for 3 months before giving up. lol

Yah, with sporadic supply issues plaguing all manufacturers, you'll be hard pressed to custom order any laptop and see it in less then a few weeks. Depending on what models you order it really can be luck of the draw. Or you could always swing by the local BestBuy or CostCo, see what last quarter's laptops they are still trying to sell and today's current prices.

I really would have had no problem but I was assured multiple times that my notebook was being built now and ready to ship out and how it was doing find any going to meet the shipping date perfectly. Honestly is a big factor for me. This is a company that I was going to spend the next 3 years with . -
Did you get an e-mail talking about supply constraints? If so a few other people got that e-mail, one of those had their laptop ship the next day I think. I wouldn't give a whole lot of credit to an automated e-mail system.

I hear you man. They were awful to me and they still have my money, but I have no machine.
I too am done with Lenovo. Worst company I've ever had the displeasure of doing business with.
I'm about to pull the trigger on a HP 8510w which ought to do everything the T would do (except give me a bunch of grief.) -
It's funny, you say you're done with Lenovo, yet you patrol these forums regularly to plug your sob story every chance you get. We understand you had a bad experience, which is unfortunate, other's however have had good experiences and bad experiences from other companies as well, learn to move on.
As for the OP, sorry to hear and hope everything works out for you! -
I am happy with the T61p. Ordered Aug 29, Shipped Aug 31, Delievered Sept 4 (3rd is Labor Day).
Don't judge something based on your one particular experience. I mean if you are picky about the delivery time then do the research and find out which one delivers fast.
Lenovo is one solid machine and the price/performance ratio is simply one of the best. Must cheaper than Asus, Sony, Fujisu, HP, Dell, or anything I can think of for the same spec. -
Although I agree with what you say, the problem I have is that they promised me multiple times that it will be shipped out on time. The 17th (estimated ship date) passed, and yet I had not receive any email stating supply constraints until I just called them up this morning. They they spilled the cat out of the bag stating supply constraints and it will ship out at the end of September.
That's where things went sour. -
lenovo has the worst CS and sales...but the best products....go figure
-
is that still true?

Yea in terms of bang for the buck Lenovo cannot be beat. Thinkpads still are built pretty well, they just have some nagging problems and it seems to be the luck of the draw with regards to what you will get. If you do get one that has relatively few flaws it is a spectacular deal. Most of the problems people have had on this forum are not specifically related to the build quality of these computers just nagging software glitches because these computers were rushed to market without adequate testing/drivers etc.

Well, Lenovo pulled a quick one on me.
It shipped. -
-
supply problems isn't the issue
it's whether a company takes responsibility for it (discount, or free upgrades)
OR, in the case of Lenovo, hides, lies, changes ship date constantly, promises it'll be there SOON, etc..
my T61 order was painful.
glad it's here though, cause I love it -
-
hahaha thanks guys. Normally I would fuss, but I don't mind the X61s.
-
Wow. what the heck... They changed the service type....
It went from ground to express...
It states that it will be here tomorrow, when it just shipped yesterday!?
-1 for shipping when I canceled, +1 for upgrading the shipping!!! -
yay, weather delay.
Well, no Lenovo for me.
