    Hi all. I can get a 35% discount on Lenova's through my employer and my son needs a LT for college. Although I have an IT background (ex-Network Admin), I haven't been in touch with current architecture advancements let alone model numbers.

    How much of a difference is there between the 7250 and 7300 Intel duals available with the T61? I see an extra 2Gig of cache but is it that much of a difference especially for what my son will be using it for? TIA.

    If he plays games, go with the 7300...it's definitely more future-proof.

    take T7300, with 4MB of cache, if he won't need them now, later for sure.

    What is it going to be used for?

    In any case, if the extra cache is needed, you might as well bump up the speed to 2.2GHz with a T7500. If it's just typing and other documents, even the cheapest CPUs right now are plenty fast.

    P.S. It's megabytes, not gigabytes.

    Get the 7300, its the price-performance ratio sweet spot.

    The upgrade is almost never worth it unless you have a specific need which most people in my experience do not.

    when i got my notebook in 08/07..the t7300 was the best performance/price ratio...at this time the t7500 has the best performance/price ratio

    after that...the upgrade price is not worth it

    agree, lately seems like most of the vendor stopping to supplied for T7300. except lenovo. wonder why. most of them only selling with T7250. So right now, for the best performance and price is T7500 i guess.

    The T7700 is a ripoff;

    +$93.75 for 7500
    +$281.25 for 7700

    and only 200 mhz faster, which won't make enough of a difference to justify the price.

    that's exactly why i say a t7500 is the best value and best performance/price ratio
