    I've been looking at finding a first generation X1 so I can do a clean install Linux and distro hop to my heart is content. I've looked through the Outlet and I'm not horribly impressed by their pricing on a basic configuration.

    Go to eBay, search for what you're looking for, then select "Completed listings only" from the search criteria. That will give you an idea of what price they are actually selling at. This will give you a general idea, but don't get stuck on the absolute highest or lowest prices and assume everyone will sell for that price. Take an average over 5 or 10 of them, then you have an idea of the range. The biggest factor that determines the variability is the condition of the used unit, included accessories, etc...
