    I live in CT and want to get my hands on the T61 before buying, I can't seem to find any retail outlets that carry Ibm.

    Bestbuy, Staples, and Microcenter (if you can find one near you). Bestbuy and Staples are accessible but will most likely have only 1 or 2 models. Microcenter has a bunch different models, but it's not a common chain store. i know Cambridge MA and Long Island NY has Microcenters.
