I have not done a fresh install on my T61. Instead I have just removed all the programs I find unnecessary. In trying to increase performance, I went into Task Scheduler to see what items might be scheduled that I'm not aware of. My Task Scheduler has 23 tasks enabled! Is this normal for Vista? In XP there was nothing scheduled by default.

For those that did a clean install, how many tasks are listed in your Task Scheduler? Any idea if these are safe to remove?

In my experience... they are interdependedent. It is rare that you can remove one and not break another.

I've been urging that we fnctionally map them out as your are asking that that e done also.

Does a fresh install of Vista have this many tasks configured?

Not at all. But then you are at the mercy of microsoft interfaces. For example, the ThinkAdvantage wireless connection management is really good.
    Vista's is much fluffier

Could you elaborate on how you feel it is more "fluffy"?

I think you get better data displays. The Lenovo way of picking an AP is actually a signal proximity display and it's well done. I think it has more control and is not as Simple as Vista.

Can someone please give me an idea of how many tasks you have in Task Scheduler after a fresh install?

I did a fresh install, but have since loaded up some additional programs.
    Under Task Status I find:
    27 total - 4 running, 17 succeeded, 6 stopped, 0 failed.
