I am about to buy a thinkpad with SSD but I wonder what brand the 128GB SSD is? I know the Intel one is far better than this but it also costs more. Is the 128GB SSD reliable or should I just go for the Intel 160GB?

    Don't do that.

Get the cheapest drive you can and upgrade to an Intel SSD on your own. That way you can save money *and* know exactly what you're getting.

Unless you're getting a real good deal like last weeks B&N 30% doorbuster or something...

It's Samsung RBX series which is ridiculously slow:

Just buy your own SSD, save money, and get a good speed.

The Intel X-25M is $399 at Newegg and was available as an option on the Doorbuster through B&N sale (less 30% less 12%) for $305 or so. About $320 on the straight Lenovo Doorbuster (less 30%) sale.

So if that comes up again go for it.

Those scores look really low for a SSD... o_O

I too would advise going the aftermarket route of obtaining your SSD. You don't lose out very much since most manufacturers will provide 3-5 years warranty and is usually much cheaper to obtain than going direct with Lenovo.

Than you very much guys. I have decided to get the Intel 160GB SSD yesterday. Added $306 in the B&N's deal. It should be much better than the 128G Samsung SSD, I hope.

Is there another B&N deal going on? I tried it and got $365 for the price.

It's the one for T420, with free upgrade to normal 500GB HDD. But I chose the SSD.
