What can I do with a T60 that I cannot with a tablet?

They say that to choose between these two series, you need to decide how you are going to use the machine.

The tablet 12.1" has the obvious advantage of providing you with the digital notes possibility and more portability.

What is(are) the advantage(s) of the T60 over a X41 tablet, for instance? Again, what can I do with the T Series that I cannot with the tablet series? (Assuming similar configurations and that the price difference wouldn't matter).

I'm very curious to read many opinions about that...

You'll get better performance on the T.

You also get a larger screen, if that matters to you; the option of higher resolutions; a touchpad; a modular bay capable of accepting an optical drive, a second hard drive, a second battery, or a unit with some additional ports (serial and parallel); and a larger (in terms of both physical size and capacity), faster, hard drive.

The extra performance that ZaZ mentioned will come from the dual-core processor in the T60 versus the LV Pentium-M in the X41T, the faster hard drive, and the dedicated graphics available in the T60 instead of the integrated graphics in the X41T. There's really no such thing as a similar configuration when you're comparing the two - they're very different machines.

So, the T60 will allow you to play many more games and run system intensive programs faster than the X41T can, watch a DVD or install a program without the need for a dock, and store far more information.

Your decision should be based strictly on whether you need/want tablet functionality. Otherwise, a T60 or X60 beats the X41T hands down.

You also will be stuck with XP Tablet edition and wont be able to upgrade to Vista.
The slow drive in the X41 tablet is very annoying.

The X60 series provides the performance of the T60, but at half the size and weight, albeit at a higher price. I find the T-series are not very portable in this era of ultraportables. Used to be that ultraportables forced you to compromise in performance, but that's no longer the case.

Your perfect fit may be an X60 tablet in about a month. But it will be expensive and very hard to get for awhile.

Thanks a lot for your great answers guys. I guess I might wait for the x60 tablet...
