Im in hurricane alley here and we lose power alot. I was wondering what would be a good car charger to buy for an R52 thats relatively inexpensive +/- 50 dollars or so.
I have no idea which one to get. If newegg has one that would be really good.
Thanks![]()

I would recommend a power inverter. Just get the one that has a bit more power than what your charger is (your charger should say its usage in watts (or w) on the bottom label.

So a power inverter would charge my battery? And this would be better than an ac adapter? Im so clueless on this subject.
Also, I dont have the laptop yet so i dont know what it says on label -

I HIGHLY recommend going with the Lenovo brand AC/DC power brick, and not an inverter. Its pretty pointless to go DC > AC > DC, not to mention inefficient.
The Lenovo one should be in the 80-100 range, and it also works as a standard AC home charger. -
do you have a link for the lenovo brand AC/DC power brick? I looked at the lenovo site and was unable to find it. I assume its compatible with the R52? I wonder how much it costs ...

I think inverters are the way to go.. -
stringer99: An inverter is basically a box that plugs into your cigarette lighter socket and provides a regular power outlet that you can plug anything into.
If you get an inverter you can not only charge your laptop but also anything else in you might need, like a GPS module, PDA dock, electric tire pump, etc. -

Vector is crap IMO. I have owned a few and they blow out and supply crappy power.
I have owned some tripp-lite and targus ones though and they work perfectly and provide good power. -
Thanks for all the help with this one.
In the end, I decided to get the ThinkPad 73P4485 72W Slim AC/DC Combo Adapter. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834995031
A little pricey, but thats ok. It is probably the best for use with my thinkpad. And it will match everything else like my thinkpad leather case, thinkpad travel mouse, and of course, my thinkpad!
Eventually I will pick up a good, cheap inverter as well to power other things as the need arises. That is a good idea. I didn't even know about them until now. -
I don't mind paying more if i get a quality inverter ,,,, can someone suggest me an online shop ????
