What could possibly be delaying my T61?

Ok, first off I'm not by any means actually complaining about my laptop not having been shipped yet. I realize the estimated ship date is only next Monday,but I have been reading and numerous people got their laptops shipped WAY before, and I've been waiting here and nothing has happened. This is how my order is set up:



Well as you can see I placed my order last Sunday..I used my debit bank card to pay for the laptop, and it showed up Tuesday in my online statement as "LENOVO (UNITED STATES)" and it was "Pending". I checked Saturday and the transaction had been removed from my account and it was no longer pending, and the money had not been debited from my account. I called Lenovo to ask if everything was okay with my order, and they informed me everything was perfectly well on track and my laptop should be shipped, at the latest, the week of 6/02. I even asked if billing has gone through okay and whatnot, and the customer service rep reassured me that my laptop was being built and would be shipped.

Does anyone know if it's normal for such a basic setup to take so long to ship, or if I should insist on calling them back and speaking to someone higher up to see if my order is okay? I've just heard of people ordering on the same day as me with very similar setups and theirs shipped a couple of days later, so I don't know =(

Thanks for listening to my rant, I'd love to know if anyone else had their laptop take this long to ship without a 9-cell battery.

 

Aren't there 3-4 week delays for the DVD-RW ?

 

Didn't say anything on my order if there is, said estimated was 1-2 weeks, hence why it came up as 6/02 estimated ship. If there is, that might explain it :/

 

Maybe it's just a Canada thing...

 

Yah, one thing that doesn't show on there (no idea why) is my display info. I got the 14.1" WXGA with integrated 1.3MP webcam, no idea why it doesn't show up on my order..

 

If it makes you feel any better I ordered my laptop Feb. 29th and received it...April 30th. Doesn't get much worse than that.

 

Oh wow proxima, do you know what the reason for the delay was? I surely hope mine doesn't take that long..I'd like to get it a couple of weeks before I go to college at least (leaving June 25th)

 

99% of people do not need to worry about long wait times like mine.

Well about a month in after ordering I kept on phoning asking what was taking so long (still didn't get any shipping confirmations, they said everything was fine and that it was received in Canada and would be shipped out. I was given a tracking number that never once worked. After another week or two I called back and they gave me the same story, got in touch with one of the supervisors and asked him to look into it. Turns out they lost my laptop somewhere in transit. He put a speed order in and i actually received my laptop two or three weeks after that.

I wasn't pissed for two reasons:

1. My new laptop was build AFTER the two dimm RAM crashing issue, whereas when I ordered the issue was not yet resolved.
2. I got $100 credit back, and they paid for my 3 Year accidental protection warranty, which I only had to pay $152 in the first place due to a website error. So for me the $250 back was worth the 2 month wait

EDIT: I do occasionally still wonder what ever happened to that little laptop of mine

Heh, 2-3 weeks is how long my recently ordered X61t is taking... (yes I ordered in Canada)
My last laptop took roughly the same amount of time as well. Must just be something that happens when you order on certain days (I'd guess Friday builds )

 

Back in the day people waited six months or longer for certain configurations.

 

Yes, but I'm a spoiled middle-class runt who takes life for granted everyday and gets angry when microwave food takes longer than 3 minutes .

Haha wow proxima, that sounds like a horrible wait. I personally can't have something like that happen or I'll be in college by the time it gets here! I just called them again today to check the order status and again i was told everything was fine and it should ship the week of 6/02. Hoping it ships out earlier! Every day I wake up and check my iPhone for a shipping confirmation email from Lenovo =(

Last updated :/ So 3 days ago it left Alaska? And since then? Should I call UPS?

 

It's my understanding that delays are becoming more and more infrequent in Canadian orders. Most orders should arrive within the 3 to 4 weeks.

 

I see that Lenovo is improving by leaps and bounds!

 

Well I'm not in Canada, so technically I should not be affected

Just checked today, still In Process. Does anyone know until what time each day they actually update the status? It says shipping info is available the morning after it ships, but how late in the day have people had their status updated?

Edit: Just called them (yes, again, I call them every day ) and now instead of telling me 6/02 the guy told me 6/01. Eh, guess not a big deal.

You are not alone. II'm in the US and have a 14" r61 on order with a ship date of 6/2 as well. I haven't called. No charge to my CC has been applied yet.

 

They don't charge your credit card until it ships from overseas.

Standrews, when did you order yours? I heard that Lenovo only sends their laptops to manufacturing when they have a batch of orders for a certain configuration, so that's why it might take so long. Unlike apple, who has/configures them separately. I guess a lot of people order common configurations, but guess mine (ours?) might not have been so common.

 

I ordered on 5/19 and my expected ship date is 6/20

But my order does have the 9 cell, maybe that is delaying it a lot.

 

Well yah I've heard the 9-cell is a big delayer. Mine hopefully will ship soon I'm so tired of waiting! But I'm glad someone confirmed that they only bill once it has shipped, makes me feel better and everything is on track.

 

My r61 is now showing shipped on 5/30.

For the record, I ordered on 5/19 and the est ship date was 6/2.

Mine just shipped today! Unfortunately I didn't get 2-day shipping (was taking enough of a plunge buying the laptop..), so now the wait ensues. I'm all the way across the country from Alaska though, in South Florida, so I'm expecting to wait the full 7 business days for delivery..Maybe not!

So happy my laptop has shipped! Thanks for all the support in the meantime guys, I'll update this once I get it
