It has been established that the Lenovo 61 series models, which include the t61/p, r61 & x61/s/tablet models, have had the stereo mix feature removed at the hardware level.

The Stereo Mix or Wave Out feature is used to record/stream the audio that is playing over the speakers of the notebook. There are various uses as i've mentioned some in the poll, If you feel i've left out some of the things you use Stereo Mix for please mention them in the ensuing thread

Lenovo insiders want to know if the feature is important to you, and what you use it for. So please participate in the poll, so we can have some figures to give them.

    Thank You for your help

I don't use the feature, but I believe that Lenovo should include it in all their models.

Oh dear, this is a hot button for me, warning, rant coming. What bothers me about this is that I read everything I could find about the t61 before I bought it and found absolutely nothing said about the deletion of this feature. I know, if you look specifically for something like stereo mix disabled you can find it. But how would you know to do that? lenove is basically saying, well, you should have check every feature you could have possibility ever needed to make sure it was available.

Seriously, I do not think I would have bought this t61 if I would have know that the recording feature was disabled. And, I know for sure I would send it back if I could. I would caution anyone contemplating a new laptop to consider if this in fact, meets their needs. I have found work around's but they are terribly time consuming to figure out and are cumbersome to use. Like we have nothing else to do than figure out how to replace features the manufacture secretly removed.

I think it is a very deceptive business practice to secretly do this and offer no alternative. I know, features get deleted every day, but honestly I can not think of even one that was not replaced with an alternative way to do the job. And the fact that other manufactures have also done so does not make it ok. I would encourage everyone to complain very loudly about this and I am still hopeful that Lenove will come to their senses and offer a solution.
