    What happened to the titanium lids?

    what happened to the titanium covered lids that ibm was selling on select thinkpads? was there really that little interest or was it a cost/production issue?

    Also, Ti isn't good for wifi signal penetration (nor is magnesium for that matter).

    Yeah, it's too bad because my z61m with titanium lid looks like a million bucks.

    just found it strange because i never seen an official statement from ibm or lenevo stating they were discontinuing their availability.

    The titanium lid was only on the Z series, which has been pulled from the USA market.

    The titanium lids looked cool, but made the laptop way too thick.

    I think they dropped it because it make the laptop too heavy and its way too expensive to make it built in.

    I found the titanium is way stronger and have resistance to scratch compare with magnesium. And yes, the lappie is heavy (3 kg!).
