What is the GRAPHICS performance difference between i7-620LM & i7-640LM in X201T?

According to Notebookcheck: Intel Core i7 620LM & Notebookcheck: Intel Cor i7 640LM, the 640 is a slightly faster CPU, and they both use the same integrated GPU chip. Intuitively, I expect the same graphics performance, but I have not seen any test results with real systems.

Much as I'd like to use my notebook to play games like WoW while traveling, I pretty much gave up on that activity with any tablet PC. Although I will not routinely work with 2D or 3D (solid) CAD drawings/models, I expect to deal with them from time to time. My biggest concern with the X201 series is the relatively lousy GPU performance, and I don't want to wait another year for the Huron River architecture that has Jayayess so excited http://forum.notebookreview.com/hardware-components-aftermarket-upgrades/459313-forget-arrandale-sb-huron-river-platform-way.html.

Is there any graphics-related benefits to the i7-640LM over the i7-620LM?

    No, the GPUs are identical.

The HP Touchsmart Tm2 (I think that's the name) is customizable up to the ATI 4550. If you really think you will need discrete graphics in the future, you should go for the Tm2

I thought the TM2 was a consumer-grade tablet. I'm very underwhelmed by HP consumer PC's. If memory serves, the X201T is the only tablet that has display port capabilities, and that's with the dock.

Thanks for thinking outside the Lenovo box, though.

The TM2 is definitely a consumer tablet and I would avoid it (poor build quality, bad display, limited battery life, gets hot, etc).

The 620LM and 640LM have identical GPU performance. Some games might get slightly higher framerates on the 640LM (especially if run at a low resolution) due to the slightly higher clockspeed. But the difference will be very slight (i.e. no game that is unplayable on an x201T with a 620LM will be playable on an x201T with a 640LM).

I've not checked the recent HP/Dell business grade tablets but I would presume they have DisplayPort (or at least DVI) support available through a dock.
