    Hi Guys,
    I have a t61 with nvidia 140m and 14.1 WXGA+ screen.

I want to hook up 2 external monitors with and have them both at 1680x1050 resolution. However, I am not sure if the DVI will support resolution that high.

Has anyone tried this? I know that the VGA output can handle it, but I am not sure about the DVI. If not, can I hook up 1 monitor to the vga of the docking station and the other to the vga of the laptop itself?

If the DVI can handle it, then I will take it one step further. Can DVI go as high as 1920x1200? That would just be a bonus.

If your going to run dual display I would get an advanced dock and put a low profile video card in it. I have seen users get dual display through the external video card, but most have problems without it especially at that resolution.

You can run only 1 external monitor at a time. The DVI port become active when the T61 is docked and the VGA port is deactivated. The DVI port and address up to 2560x1600. The advanced dock is not working with the T61; no one has gotten the external dock video card to work.

See this blog post and comments for more info on the topic: http://www.carltonbale.com/2007/07/my-new-laptop-a-thinkpad-t61/

    Carlton,
    That is simply not true.
My friend has 2 external monitors connected thru the advanced mini dock. One thru the VGA and one thru the DVI. Unfortunately he has 2 17 ich LCSs, so he hasn't been able to answer my question if WUXGA 1920x1200 can be acheived with DVI.

I have a T61 with the advanced mini dock. It is currently connected to a Dell 2407wfp monitor at 1920 x 1200 resolution thru the DVI port. I used to have another monitor connected to the VGA port of the dock, but I stopped using it since I found the 2407 to have more than enough screen area for my needs.

Awesome!! You don't realize how long I have been researching this and could not find a solid answer.
However, since I am going to buy 2 24inch monitors based on your post, please just confirm that you have the 140m NVIDIA.

    Thanks

T61's with 140M definitely work with dual monitors at 1920x1200. gl kingweb.

I can confirm that a T61 with the NVIDIA 140m can drive two 24" monitors.
I have one Gateway FPD2485W hooked up through DVI and another one hooked up through VGA on an Advanced Mini Dock.
Both monitors run at their maximum resolution of 1920x1200.

Awesome! Thank you guys for the responses!
I wonder why NVIDIA would short change themselves on the resolution that they show is available on their website.

I was almost going to get 2 WSXGA+ 22 inch monitors. Now I am definately going with 2 24 Inch WUXGA's.
    Maybe 2 42 Inchers! (I wish).

    Any suggestions?
I have 2 monitors in mind. Samsung 245BW or Dell 2407WFP.
I am not a gamer, but accurate true color is important to me.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
