I am having a hard time understanding Lenovo's idea of using coupons.

Last week during the St. Patricks day sale I could have ordered a very nice SL500 Thinkpad for only $774.00. Today I try to build the exact same laptop using the available coupon code and it is $918.00.

Then I search online and find a "employee friends and family" coupon code, enter it in, and it brings the same laptop to $872.00.

Can someone shed some light on what is going on here? Should I wait until they offer another sale similar to the one they had last week?

You should definitely wait. Lenovo has tons of different sales (from what I've seen) usually ranging from 5% to 20% off (even more sometimes). Wait until there's a sale that works well for you!

I gather that, at any given time, there is a coupon code offering anywhere from 5% to 20% off. Is that correct?

But are there also other coupon codes that can be stacked on top of the regular codes?

Assuming I am willing to wait 2 more months, what total discount could I expect if all of the conditions are right?

*Edit - I just calculated the discount of the original offer I was given last week. It was a total of approximately 25% off. I think I used two coupons stacked together.

Checkout ebay and look for power-sellers.

All you really have to do is call them and ask to give you the same deal that was offered in the last sale. They'll usually go ahead and give in.
