I'm looking into possibly getting the Y50 by Lenovo and was wondering what kind of servicing Lenovo offers. If the battery goes bad, will they replace it? Or could you purchase one yourself and replace it? What kinds of problems have people had, and what was done about them?

Very worst....worst service I ever had...I purchased Lenovo Ideapad series before 3 month, now I am having hard-disk issue, bad sectors on hard-disk due to which my laptop becomes very slow. To listen a single song, it takes 3-4 minutes to open a media player..its a brand new laptop..

I contacted service center people, they are too lazy.. never attend you properly and shows the attitude. They are never ready to listen what your problem or complaint is..worst worst worst...never go for Lenovo...

I found the same with Lenovo's consumer models, however flip the coin to the business models ( X, T and W thinkpads ) and the support is absolutely fantastic.

it also seems to be in which areas you are in, the consumer support seems to be better in Canada, Australia and Europe than the USA for some reason as well. ( personal opinion from occasionally reading the issues over at thinkpad forums and here )
