    Hello,

I looked at different posts on this board and on thinkpads forum, but
still not sure, what memory type/brand will work in my machine..
(It's T60p with 1GB on one dimm). So I need to add another GB -
is Lenovo brand (227$!) is the only option I have or there are some
    alternatives ?

    Thanks!
    M

Crucial, Kingston and Corsair are considered top brands. Using an off brand slightly increases the chances the memory will not work as it is not tested as much before leaving the factory. I have used both name and off brands before and never had an issue with either. The T60 use PC5300 DDR2 memory.

I have used Kingston and Corsair and never had a problem with either...Corsair and Crucial are suppose to be top-notch and tested quite a bit.

I have Patriot RAM in my X60. T60 and X60 are close enough right? :)

I use one module of hynix (no-name brand) that came with the thinkpad and one 1GB dimm buffalo select (ok brand) and have had zero issues.

I don't know why everyone makes such a big deal about laptop memory, especially when Lenovo uses off-brand RAM.

www.newegg.com is a good place to start looking for memory.
