The Dell is a little off-white and the T61 is a little dim. Can't win. XD

Do you happen to know the model number for that Dell 20"?

I tend to trust the colors of external monitors.

Well without any info on what we're looking at, it's foolish to jump to conclusions.

Was each screen calibrated? Who makes the panel itself? What kind of cable is used? etc.

Well, looking at that ebay page, my HP DV9000t is showing me something in between.

That Dell 2001FP is a pretty good external monitor, if memory serves. So I would have more faith in the colors produced on the Dell monitor.

The Dell is the right color. This is very dissapointing from a T61 standpoint and I'm still waiting for mine....

Could the fact that the dell is on an XP machine and the T61 has vista make a difference ?

The alternating colors on the T61 are a tone of blue and on the dell they are gray...

also the difference between yellow and orange...

    OS shouldn't make a difference.

I concur that your T61's color is way off. My T61s - one 4:3 and two widescreens - are scheduled to arrive on Friday. It'll be interesting to do a comparison.

Which panel did you get, Samsung or TMD?

My T61 come with the Samsung LCD WXGA+also has a blue tint problem. It seem to me that "color correction" function couldn't fix this issue. Another thread saying this is normal for some LCD panels, but I am not sure because it's really way off.

I have a T60p with the LG panel (15.4") and do not have the same color problems. I had a Samsung panel for a bit and tried to convince myself it was as good as the LG panels but after the graininess/horizontal lines across some colors started driving me crazy I returned it and got one from buy.com that had the LG screen... it's a lot better but it still looks a bit grainy though :(

Wondering if I should just return mine w.o even testing it (Samsuck), to avoid 15% to find out if I can't handle it.

Colors looked funny on mine. More pinkish. Tans were strange.

There's nothing wrong with the 2001FP.

Thousands of people have it, and are stoked. I personally know 15 people that have one, back when Dell sold it ON SALE for 800.00.

I just got my Dell 24" for 800.00, and I'm rockin that now.

Who cares if it's offwhite. That's why they have color settings.

Besides, slightly off white is better for office applications anyway. Hurts less to stare at your screen when writing a paper.

I would say the Dell monitor's colour needs adjusting, bit more blue if possible!
