I am going to buy T400 with bluetooth
I don't know which mouse is the best to choose for my Thinkpad
Right now, I prefer to choose wireless mouse

    1. V470 Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks
    2. V450 Laser Cordless Mouse for Notebooks
    3. ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse

1, 3 both are bluetooth mouse, perfect to fit thinkpad with bluetooth. And the price are almost around 40 bucks. The cons are the bluetooth only available for the computer with bluetooth. I can not fit to my desktop.

3 has 800 dpi, but I can not find more detail information about logitech mouse. From the review, 3 has some delay when it happened with large downloading with wifi, because the 2.4gHz is the same with wifi and bluetooth(I am not sure), and with two AA batteries in the mouse, it will feel a little heavy. And there is a 2 second delay when I reboot after 10 minutes sleep for the energy saving.

2 has a tiny receiver, but it will occupy one of the USB port in thinkpad. The price is around 20 when on sale.

And I can not find any review about 2.

Do you guys have any experience and recommend on these stuffs? Which one is the best for the thinkpad mouse? (for the normal office use)

    Thanks!

I plan to use a thumb trackball + Genovation programmable 35-key keypad. Both wired. I had planned to get a wireless but I don't like recharging and plugging in and out seems like the lesser of the 2 hassles physically and mentally.

I “don’t believe” in cordless mice—as I hate recharging/swapping batteries more than the annoyance of a cord. Then again, for me, the cord really isn’t annoying—and the mouse movement is always flawless since I don’t rely on a wireless technology. With this in mind, the best mouse I’ve ever owned is the Razer DeathAdder. When I’m working with my notebook on a desk, I like having a full sized mouse—and while the DeathAdder is considered a gaming mouse, it works flawlessly for non-gamers, like me, too. In addition to the mouse’s very good specifications, the top of the mouse and T400 both have the same rubberized tactical feel. More details on the DeathAdder are available at http://www.razerzone.com/p-69-razer-deathadder-gaming-mouse.aspx.

Cheers—and I’m not a Razer stockholder or being paid by them.

I would definetly go for #3 - the Bluetooth Thinkpad mouse. It got very good reviews and it would match your Thinkpad perfectly. Check out a review of the Thinkpad mouse HERE. Whatever you get, I would not hesitate to go wireless of some sort, especially if it is being used just mainly for office work. If you were a big time gamer then there might be issues, but not in your case. I was thinking wired myself, but went with wireless. It was a very good decision. I have the Logitech Vx Revolution. It is a very nice mouse and is slightly larger than the nano, making it more comfortable. The one downside to the Vx revolution is the dongle you need to use, since it is a RF mouse(nano has the micro receiver). That can be a pain sometimes, especially if you move the laptop a lot and you have a chance of it breaking off. I am planning on buying the Thinkpad Bluetooth just to see if I like it more. If it works good, then I will sell the Vx Revolution. A few plus sides to the Vx Revolution is its ideal size, frictionless scroll wheel(or friction if you want, you can set it), a back and forward button, zoom+- button and a search button. The Lenovo mouse is simpler with a 4 direction scroll wheel and a 2 mouse buttons. It has a rubber paint texture, like your thinkpad and uses regular AA batteries like the Vx.

Check out THIS thread I started a while back which got a huge number of responses...

I picked up a Lenovo Bluetooth mouse. So far its been great. No lag that I've noticed working in Office and CS3. A little extra weight is nice in a small mouse and I have a bunch of rechargeable AAs laying around. The matte finish is a nice touch too.

Hm, On my lappy I think the one I am using is the V220 from Logitech. The battery life is amazing! Works very well. No complaints except it uses a USB port like any non-bluetooth, wireless, laptop mouse.

I use a Microsoft Wireless Presenter Mouse 8000, picked it up when it was ~$35 at Amazon a few weeks ago. Quite happy with it. I don't use the included bluetooth dongle, just the internal bluetooth on my T400.

Here are some shots of my T61p w/ my Logitech VX Nano. Very happy w/ my purchase especially with the fact that I never have to remove the receiver. I could have gone the bluetooth route, but I just preferred the plug-and-playability of the nano.

Sorry for the blur, but the receiver is just that small.

    Agreed. Cordless mice suck.

I went to Best Buy and bought ALL, and I mean ALL, the logitech mice (nano, vx, v450, v350). They all suck. Lag time is very annoying; a point made by BinkNR.

I returned ALL these mice within 2 hours, reinstalled Windows to get rid of all those crap drivers and went about my merry way with my $10 Logitech Notebook Mouse Optical Plus.

check out newegg. that $10 POS has THE most reviews and everyone loves it. I hope they never stop making it.

Sounds like you guys are the exception. My batteries go out about every six months which just quite frankly, isn't bothersome whatsoever. Also, I've never experienced lag w/ wireless mouse and I've used a number of them.

I have been using the logitech vx nano mouse for the past two weeks and so far i really like it! I love the feeling the scrolling wheel gives, how you can have one click google searches, and it has included front and back buttons to make browsing the net very easy.

This is off topic but i also received the logitech ultra slim illuminated keyboard, and so far its the best keyboard that i have ever used. It feels just like my R61's keyboard, but just has bigger keys. The illumination feature is really cool as well.

Yes, I agree. My cordless mouse doesn't have any lag. I have even used it to play games like DOOM3, Warcraft III etc, so it would be perfectly fine for regular office type work. I don't know if I would challenge a pro gamer with a razer mouse in a FPS tournament though. I have had my mouse for a month or two and am using the same alkaline AA battery and the meter is showing that it is 3/4 full of charge still.

Wired mice can be a pain in my opinion for a laptop. Yes you can tie up the wire, but what is the point?

I was skeptical of the wireless mice, but I am glad I went for it. In fact I will probably never buy a wired mouse again!

vx nano is awesome and i get roughly a bit more than 6 months (i have the habit of properly turning of my mouse)... and about lag.. there's no lag in my opinion.. check if you have interference when you use your mouse.. but i highly doubt it's that... i have enough RF stuff in my house... i'm surprise i get no interference.

I also have a G9 mouse though (it's corded fyi) i love that too...

But the OP was asking for a Notebook mouse... and honestly.. VX Nano without a single doubt!

people who complain about lag in a wireless mouse this day in age are just nerds.

and the 6 months you guys claim for you nano is exactly what i get. its pretty pathetic compared to that new nano logitech just released that gets about a year and a half... although its a light color and not as sexy as the vx nano we have.

Your mouse must be defective, I have a VX nano and it has been on for months. Today was actually the first time that ive had to replace the batteries since i got it. I would highly recommend this mouse. Although i must say my wheel clicks a little bit when its in glide mode. Probably bring it back for an exchange.

there's a reason why the V550 nano last longer.. it uses 2 AA compare to the VX Nano.. it uses 2 AAA. And i agree VX Nano is just pure sexyness compare to V550

yes the hyperscroll will eventually loose it's scroll due to the expansion of the black rubber on the wheel. However, in my experience Logitech is good about sending you a new one if it's under warranty.

No. Press the scroll wheel down once until you feel it "click" At that point the scroll wheel should be "freewheeling", i.e.Spinning freely with no clicks. You can scroll through documents in record speed with this. I actually keep it in hyperscroll mode most of the time and have grown accustomed to spinning it and just using my finger to stop it where I want it.

I've tried 2 times to replace my old Logitech Optical Mouse (wired) .. and both times ended up putting it back on :( It's like .. 5 years old .. lol, and still kicking.

but I'm willing to try a bluetooth mouse, just because I have bluetooth build in my laptop .. but I have the feeling that I'll put the old one back on, lol

how ironic, my mouse is already blinking red indicating the batteries are about to die.

i just changed these things 2 or 3 months ago. what a POS when it comes to battery life. i think i'm gonna pick up a cheap wired mouse and just use this vx nano for mobile tasks.

Quite comfortable and overall a better mouse than the VX Nano, but it's too bad the duds @ Logitech haven't realized they should be using the nano receiver.

I had three of these. THREE. They are very comfortable and the optical sensor (while nothing special) could actually glide smoothly through rough surfaces when more expensive mice jumped the pointer all over the place. However, all three BROKE. The left click stops responding properly after a year of usage and double clicks for you when you single click. So icons randomly get dragged, text randomly highlighted, etc. Shame. I had a race car painted one too.

I use the metal mouseman traveler
    [IMG]

and i'm thinking of getting a kensington slimblade. the mouseman is still functioning properly after so long, but the clickers are insanely loud. Still looks very professional though.

I used (and still use on my old machine) a logitech v270 and loved it. For my t61 I use a V470 and it works great as well. I have no problems on games, and the battery life it great. Probably 1.5-2 months per set of batteries for either one.

There are a lot of other mice I would love to use, like the vx nano, but I won't if they are going to take a USB port from me. Thats what BT is for, as far as I am concerned, so why not use it. If they would offer these other mice in bluetooth i'd love to get a nano.

Right on! I've got both the vx nano and vx revolution and much prefer the size of the vx revolution. I wish it had the nano's small receiver but the longer receiver is not a problem for me.

The nano is good for people who like to hold the mouse with their fingers. The revolution is better for people who like to rest their palm on the mouse as it has more height to it. They both look really great with a black TP.

Re batteries: Battery life is pretty good for both mice. In both mice, I use Sanyo Eneloop (low self discharge) rechargeable NiMH batteries that last longer than regular alkaline batteries and can be recharged hundreds (if not 1000's) of times. These batteries hold at least 85% of their charge when unused in storage for over a year so once charged, they are always ready to go. Saves money and I always have extra charged batteries ready to go when I need them.

Oh, I've never experienced any lag with either mouse and I play COD4 all the time with them and they work quite well for that although they are not true gaming mice. If you are experiencing lag, there is something wrong with the mouse or your computer or the way it is set up. The laser tracking tracks well on almost any surface like jeans or the arm of an arm chair.
