Was wanting to know some ideas about how to get that unreal life from the T400 - I see mention of 60% screen, but I got about an hour from my first run, it was on high perf. and full screen, but wanting to find out some tips.

    Thanks!

Did you switch to the integrated GPU?
And what battery do you have?

i'm gonna run some tests but heres something ive been noticing lately.

running in energy saving, maximum battery life mode on my T400 with 9 cell i used to get roughly 6:30 hours using 90% charge capacity and only 2 bars of screen brightness. i browsed the web, using word and excel and average 6:30 hours.

presently, which is roughly two or three weeks later, this has dropped to around 4:30 or 5 hours.

now i dont know if i am somehow misusing it lately, if i'm using it for more power hungry apps, or if the battery has simply lost that much capacity within the past two weeks, but this is upsetting.

now let me say that opposed to school work i used to do, having the T400 on a desk most of the time, lately ive been laying in bed having it on my stomach and just surfing the web. is this somehow causing it to heat up and lose capacity?

furthermore, i know that there was a power manager system update a few days or weeks back. i wonder if that somehow caused this.

I forgot to mention, the 6-cell and using integrated as the unit will not let me switch to the ATI , keeps saying close all applications and such.. They are.. it's just won't switch.

I've noticed that with my T400, the 5300 wireless card draws a lot of power when browsing the web (moreso when browsing a lot of pages fast). When I'm in class and just typing my notes in word I get ~4.5-5 hours with my 6 cell battery, but when I activly browse the web it drops to about 3-3.5
