I would say 500-700 as you can get a t400 with those specs for ~1k.

The only reason to do it is if you want something bigger/smaller or a some other feature your T61 lacks. For everyday usage a new notebook will offer you nothing performance wise.

yea i'm thinking of downsizing and getting something cheap and pocketing some money because this hasnt been at all worth what i payed for it. I've recently been using a t42 with xp and a 1.6 centrino and its running about the same speed and is much thinner and higher quality it seems. Also boots much faster....square screen ftw I may just get a netbook and a desktop. I really dont need speed which i thought i'd get use out of but its a waste. Want to put Windows 7 RC on here possibly as a last hoorah but not sure how people say that is. Any input would be great.

Accidental protection will boost the price significantly

You can easily get $700-800 for it.

The T4x machines are less durable, my opinion of course.
