weird...
Where did you see this?
-
That's a good questions. What the heck is "NV"?? i'd like to know too!
-
if you go to configure a Lenovo X61 (not X61S)
you get an option of the T7500 NV, and it's cheaper than the 7300. -
anyone? 10

everyone on the Internet is asking your same question....

Just a wild guess, but perhaps No Virtualization?
Although the T7500 normally supports Virtualization. -
So, we can all agree this is a weird processor? Thank you Lenovo for clearing things up for people
-
Maybe it has a smaller L2 cache than the regular T7500.
-
Normal Voltage rather than Low Voltage?
-
No viiv ??

I do not know what the NV stands for. But when you select the "NV" processor on the Lenovo web site the display type (on a ThinkPad X61) changes to "TFT".
-
It is NO-VT,NO Intel Virtualization Technology, for cheaper price.

can you provide further information? Thank you

I don't think it has anything to do with virtualization.
When you have the configuration page open, switch between the T7500 and the T7500 NV and look down at the display option. You'll see the options switch between 12.1" XGA TFT with the T7500 selection and 12.1" XGA STD, 2x3 UltraConnect II antenna with the T7500 NV selection.
It's a retractable antenna that sticks out the side. You can see a diagram here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67822
They must really want you to have that antenna because it's cheaper. -
There is a $220 difference between the regular T7500 and the T7500 NV on the basic X61. Adding an Ultraconnect antenna would not really justify a price decrease, especially of that magnitude.
Either these "NV" cpus were C2D rejects and have been neutured in some way (something that does happen with cpu batches, which makes them a cheap & attractive offering to OEMs), or selection of an "NV" model subtracts something expensive from the X61 (and they are not telling you what). -
ill make a phone call tomm .. i have a freind who will know. he worked for intel for years and he can easily call someone he knows and ask them ill post back tomm
-
that would be much appreciated.
-
so...did anyone figure out what the t7500nv is?
-
so how does NV disadvantage us? is virtulization even a benefit for a common user?
