    Hello all,

I just got my new T61P ( running xp Pro ) and I'm trying to figure out how to reduce the useless stuff....

This is a s/s of my DIR. "totalcmd" is the only DIR i just installed.

1 - I need to know which DIR i need to keep to be able to do a recovery install?
I also have made a rescue/recovery CD already.
2 - Are those DIR useless? SUPPORT, SWSHARE, SWTOOLS, VALUEADD, icons?
3 - Are I386 and drivers are the only two DIR i need for recovery?

If anybody could give inputs/helps? thx

    Happy Easter!!

You'll want to hang on to the SWTools and SWShare folders as they contain all your ThinkVantage software. I think there's another copy of them inaccessible (at least through normal means) to you on the hidden partition but that copy of the ThinkVantage stuff is meant for Rescue/Recovery and diagnostics. As far as I know, everything you need to do a system recovery is either on those discs you burned or on the hidden partition.

You can access the partition using the ThinkVantage button when your laptop is POSTing. You can consider turning system restore off (and shadow volume copies). It saved me 3GB and I was coming from just a few days of use.

    Oh thx.
I just ran disk management and saw the recovery partition ( ~6 gb )
I read a thread on the "Base software administrator" i'm going to give it a try.

You should do a reformat and reinstall the OS.
