I only have a budget of $2400 for 2 laptops. I want one mobile laptop for classes and another laptop for home/dorm use only. I wanted to buy from Lenovo…however, I’m starting to get the impression that my order may not work out. I ordered on 1/28/2010 and my est. ship date was 02/05/2010 now my est. ship date was changed to 02/15/2010. I’m debating whether or not to cancel my order. On the other hand, I don't know of another credible company to order a durable laptop. I do have an old dell laptop but it is dying on me and it is in dire need for a replacement.

    My configuration:

    T510 Price $1,314.49
    Intel Core i5-540M Processor (2.53GHz, 3MB L3, 1066MHz FSB)
    Window Professional (64 bit)
NVIDIA NVS 3100m Graphics with 512MB DDR3 Memory
    15.6 HD Anti-Glare LED Backlight
    4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
    Camera (2.0 MP)
320 GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm<-(at the time didn’t know that I could order 500GB 7500RPM from other sites cheaper)( I thought this was the best value in terms of GB per dollar same for X200)
Multi Recorder Optical Drive (12.7mm)5-in 1 Card Reader
    9 cell Li-Ion Battery
    Intergrated Bluetooth

    X200 Price $937.75
    Intel Core 2 Duo processor P8600 (2.40GHz, 3MB L2, 1066MHz FSB)
    Win 7 Home Premium 7 (64 Bit)
    Intel Graphics media Accelerator 4500MHD
12.1 WXGA, 2x2 UltraConnect II antenna; with Camera
    4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
250 GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm
    Integrated Bluetooth
    9 cell Li-Ion Battery

    Total $2,356.39
Both have the 3YR Depot + 3YR ADP warranty and they are included in the price above.

    I would not cancel.

    It gets really tricky.

I tried cancelling a T410 I ordered previously and actually got the cancellation confirmation from the sales rep when I called. I thought it was all handled until yesterday where I got a shipping notification for a T410 coming my way :S.

FML...because Apple laptops are staring to look very attractive to me right now...but I don't know of a way to get accidental protection on them...so I guess I'm stuck with Lenovo for right now.

Give Lenovo a call. I have heard that customer service can sometimes help prioritize your order.

I was looking at Apple as well for a little while.

    But really.

    No i3,5, or 7 but Core2Duo 15" for $1799.00Cdn???

Perhaps its not a big deal to you guys in the US but 13% tax hurts....

    EDIT:

I would agree with ckx if you really don't want the laptop... but if it has already shipped your sol (if it has already been sent to manufacturing it also might be too late =\)

@Ckx, from my research it seem like Lenovo customer service is a lot of people conception of hell....

@Daidojih, I do agree with Apple laptops being pricey in terms of the specs that they offer.

I would agree with the Lenovo customer service .. but there are also some really good reps that really do try everything to makes things better for you.

It really is hit or miss and you may have to call a couple of times to get a good rep.

There's good and bad workers everywhere, but one thing's for sure, if you don't try you'll never know. One thought that occoured to me was why buy a T510 when you can get a desktop that offer better performance and cost less since that's not going to move much.

A desktop would have been too bulky and there is not enough usable space in the dorm for one. I would rather have my computer on me while traveling back and forth from school instead of shipping it. It feels as if my life is so unpredictable and having a desktop would really weight me down. In addition, it is nice to have something that can move around in the dorm/apartment.

If all you care is accidental protection, talk to your homeowner/renter's insurance agent and see what the agent can offer. Maybe personal laptops are already covered by your current homeowner/renter's insurance!

I would definitely call Lenovo if you want a more firm ship date. My laptop had estimated ship dates of 1/27, 2/4, 2/17, then 2/11 on the status page, but I had called them when it got changed to 2/4 and asked them when it would be shipped and I was clearly told 2/6 and that was the day it did ship.

That is so true ckx, but I my mother don't carry renter's insurance and I forgot to get renter's insurance for the dorm.

Called Lenovo this morning and the order has been placed on a "priority list".
