So guys I know its a little early, (about 2 months to be exact), but what do you guys think will happen when the newer 700m GPU series comes out? Will Lenovo distribute a whole new laptop? Like a Y510, or something equivalent? Or will they just take the Y500 and, for example, replace the GT 650m with a GT 750m/760m? Also do you think they will release the newer GPU right away? Or will they wait like they did with the Y500?

This thread is really just for curiosity and to see others opinions and thoughts on the future of Lenovo and the Y500. I'm also planning on getting a Y500 in the future but I am waiting for Lenovo to make a move with the newer 700m series. So guys post your thoughts on what you think will happen. And if you have any information on this topic, definitely comment on it.

    Hi
I think you should drop down your guess on lenovo adding the new GPU to y500 since
    1. It is just released
    2. Lenovo hasn't really done much editing with past laptops other than minor upgrades
On what you said about a new model, y510 is pretty old and moreover i have heard that lenovo might even call off idea brand and continue with the Thinkpad brand meaning the y500 is the last ideapad

But to keep up your hopes, lenovo would like to add the new technology to their brand so we just have to wait or see.
    Regards

I have also heard the same, I honestly just dont believe it. I feel like there's no way Lenovo would just drop the whole thing. I don't see the gain in it. But who knows what Lenovo has up there sleeve. All we can do is wait and see what happens.

I didn't believe it too and wont believe myself since here hasn't been any official word from them till now. So as you said, Time would tell what is coming ahead

well if lenovo will make a successor of the y500, one thing's for sure, it will be less expensive than the others! :)

a more lighter and smaller version of the y500 perhaps with the same power? that would surely be tempting. :D

Hell I don't care if they did a re-brand and kept everything the same, all i care about is that they update the graphics. Just imagine how much of a beast it would be putting like 2x 750m/760m in a Lenovo Y500. Thats all I really care about. But it would be awesome for them to slim it down. (although to me its not even necessary)

In my opinion, lenovo should provide a separate PCI port for a gpu(Not the ultrabay) since it has mentioned it as a gaming laptop and some brands like alienware do the same
