Legit owner. Using the fingerprint reader, I can power on and change every setting in the bios of my X220.

    But I forgot the password.

In the bios --- security --- fingerprint section, I found

Reset Fingerprint Data, which reads "This option is used to erase all fingerprint data stored in the fingerprint reader and reset settings to the factory state. As a result, any power-on security features previously enabled will not be able to work until they are re-enabled in the fingerprint software."

What will happen if I reset the fingerprint data?

Will the supervisor password be disabled? Or will I be locked out of the system?

I resetted fingerprint data once, and I think that the power-on and supervisor passwords were still set. So that would definitely not good in your situation. Maybe I have some time to accurately check that later.
