I'm considering selling my T42p. It's got the 1600x1200 flexview display, ATI Fire GL 128MB, 1.8ghz Pentium-M, 1GB ram (1 stick), 60GB 7200RPM HD, DVD writer, Windows 7 Professional (bought and paid for).

The only cons are the battery isn't in great shape--maybe an hour to an hour and a half run time on a full charge, and there's an unknown supervisor password in the BIOS. I've never needed to alter anything that I couldn't alter, but still it's there. I've got the instructions on how to crack it, but it looks time consuming so I haven't bothered yet... I might if I thought it would be a selling issue.

it really depends on where it is made and the external casing condition, i.e. any scratches or cracks.

A1 condition T42p would fetch around 200 to 300 dollars (depend where you are selling it), provided that the LCD has no blemishes and is still bright. It will be better if you can post a picture of your actual laptop.

Well, I've only got a camera phone so pictures never look that good. Do you think the supervisor password is an issue or should I not worry about trying to remove it?

yes password is always an issue, especially if you try to update the bios or need to change the CMOS battery. This could lower the resale value of your Thinkpad.

isn't it possible to disable the password if you know it?
