What's in your Express Card slot?

I've just ordered a refurbished x220. I'm planning on maxing it out with 1600 ddr3 ram right away but may wait to replace the hard drive to a later date (the 7200rpm 320gb should be good for now).

I'm curious as to what other Lenovo laptop owners have in their express card slot. The x220 has a expresscard 54 slot. Off the top of my head, I could add:
    • HDMI port
    • USB 3.0 port(s)
    • SSD

HDMI is something I definitely need though display port to HDMI cables are dirt cheap so that's probably a better option.

What do members here have in their express card slot?

I'm curious as to what other people have. Preferably, I'd like to use the slot to add functionality that my x220 won't have.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

USB 3.0 would be the most useful. No need for HDMI since displayport can convert to HDMI w/ audio with an adapter. Just use the msata port if you need another ssd.

I may end up doing an eGPU setup in the near future. Still deciding if I want a proper gaming desktop or not....

Thanks. I was going to buy a msata ssd but doesn't that have to replace WWAN?

Interesting. Not really practical for my needs but it's great that can be done.

I have nothing, but at some point I pondered about getting USB 3.0 to add through Express Card slot.
HDMI would be of no use for me, since theres VGA that is good for 100% of my private and work needs.

SSD? I think you cant boot from EC SSD? Thus its useless thing to add given the price. Id rather add spacious SD card into SD card slot with music or movies rather than spend a fortune on useless SSD.
UNLESS you want to max out your storage capacity ;)

I agree. If you can't boot from the ssd, it's pointless.

I've never used that but it looks kind of crappy. Is it any good? I can't imagine it being as good as a normal mouse.

It's obviously not a full time replacement, but it actually works very well. And it has a wireless presenter function for Powerpoints etc. including laser pointer.

I wish I can add a little helium pouch to lighten the laptop.

Suppose it could be useful if you wanted to free up a USB port :)

double eSATA card, but it's usually out of the slot unless I need it, i.e. to backup my 500GB HDD onto another one of same size

Nothing. Expresscard heats up the palmrest, so only put one in if you actually use it.

I assume this only happens if it's being used eg when transferring files via an ex USB 3.
