    Hi,

I'm going to college this fall and I've pretty much decided that I will get a nice T61p. I'm going on vacation over the summer and when I get back, I'll have one day until college starts. That means I need to receive the laptop before July.

So, what's on the horizon? Will I miss out if I buy it in May/June?

New technologies: Solid State Drives (SSDs), OLED displays (superior in almost every respect), AMD's CPU/GPU hybrid solution called Fusion... I'm not sure exaclt when these technologies will be out, but OLED displays and SSDs can be found in some higher-end laptop models.

Hmm, LED displays are nice. SSDs are probably out of my budget for now. What about new C2D processors?

If you wait until June or after to order, you might be able to purchase a whole new ThinkPad with the Nehalem platform.

But it's a completely different thing from the t61p.
Honestly I would wait for some good sale/epp/cpp to make a purchase of a t61p.
I don't think there's gonna be any worthy refresh that's going to be out on time for school, and even if there is you're likely to suffer delays and the usual problems of a new platform.

Hmm, I don't know if I'll be able to get a Nehalem processor. The best I can wait for is Penryn probably. When is Montevina (successor to Santa Rosa) coming out?
