I know probably it is a quite silly question. But anyone clear it up for me? Thanks.

On site-- someone comes to your house. Depot-- you go to a store.

Depot -- Lenovo/IBM sends you a prepaid shipping label and picks the laptop up at your door. they ship it back to your door after repairs (usually overnight shipping). if you need your laptop repaired at an immediate second, get onsite. Otherwise, if you don't mind waiting a few days or a few weeks(if parts aren't in stock), get depot.

that is a easy question in depot option you would have to call them up and lenovo sends you a prepaid box. to send in ur laptop

and onsite option you would just call them up and they will sent you someone to fix it for you and if they cant fix they will replace it for you. they are both good but the onsite is much more expensive.

and just too let u know if you choose depot they return your laptop to you in like 3-4 days.

Does onsite send actual Lenovo employees or just contractors?

Yeah, I think I'd rather ship it back to Lenovo than have someone else work on it.

IBM EasyServ has been outsourced to Solectron (Depot service).

I've heard bad stories of them really damaging a well-taken care of laptop and denying it was their fault.

At least when they come to your house you can watch them like a hawk

Guys Depot repair is no better / worse then onsite. The depot repair is outsourced to someone else and is just as likely to screw something up.

They better not wreck my new machine. I don't know why they did not have parts in place to do repairs on the T61 but it is taking forever to get the bios card put in my laptop.

It is indeed outsourced. In calling about my T61 they explained they don't do the repairs themselves.

I got a protection service for 3 years.
Hope it could be better than just warranty.
