So, I ordered a T60 on 6/28 while the flexview coupon was active. My order status was still "In process" on July 3 - and I wanted to make a component change, so I called up Lenovo and they said the change would be made. My order status never changed. On 7/10, I saw that my order was still "In Process." I called up with yet another component change (I know too many changes - my last one!). They said it was weird that my order status never changed... I wonder if my changes will actually go through or even if I'll ever get my thinkpad!

I guess Lenovo can't handle (efficiently) any component changes.
Mine has been built in two days after the order placement.

Apoddar, you can you get a "free" or any flexview screen in the T61?
    A hypothetical question...

I think you meant the question rhetorically not hypothetically. You're asking it for the sake of emphasizing the answer that we all already know. So, yeah, Apoddar made a huge oversight.

So you prefer the T60 over the T61 because of the flexview?

I am a photographer, and just ordered a T61 and am very concerned about the display. To be able to do my work I need a very good display, maybe I made a bad decision going with the T61.

I'll agree that Lenovo seems to have a problem with component changes..but here's what I don't understand - your order was built two days after order placement.

I orderd my system on thursday 6/28. By tuesday 4/3 - there was no status change.

Further, after phoning in my component change, I was told the order would be "stopped" at the factory (24-48hrs before the order online status would be updated and then the component change would be added and order update would show the change - none of that happened.

There was no activity on my order from 7/3 to 7/11. The second Lenovo rep I spoke with said this was very odd and not the norm. She said there should be activity shown and it very rarely takes this long for an update. I had that conversation yesterday and so far there has been no change on the status page. I'm going to call on Friday if there's still no change.

Even prior to the component change, the order seems to have exhibited particularly low activity...

Is this because you've personally seen the T61 display and hated it, or is this because you've read 5 posts about bad T61 screens and are now paranoid?

    Now that's a rhetorical question.

I have not seen it, and no it is not because I read a few bad posts. I couldnt find any laptop's at retail stores with a decent resolution so I figured I just had to try. So I have been afraid of getting a crappy display ever since I ordered it.

Well, I'm one of the five who didn't like theirs, so ymmv, but I wouldn't recommend the display of the 61 to anyone, much less someone editing photos. Mine was garbage- horrid viewing angles, and a ton of leakage. Brightness is good, and colors might be ok, so hopefully it will work for you. I just know it didn't work for me.

And yeah, you're lucky if you can even cancel a lenovo order without them charging/shipping anyways, much less make changes to the order... twice! Good luck.

I just got what I assume is an automated message from Lenovo stating that my T60 flexview order will be delayed (the official ship date was 7/12). Sadly, none of my component changes have been made. I spoke again with Lenovo last night and they have no idea why my order is being "ignored." They have sent requests to update and change the order but to no avail. Is this the norm?
