After a little over a month of owning a T61p refurb, I've experienced a hard drive failure. I seem to recall some kind of limited one year warranty coming standard with it but now I can't find any confirmation of this or documentation on their site. I don't even remember having an option to choose a plan when I purchased it.
Anyways just want to know what to expect before I call them. I can't call them until later anyways cause I'm at work.

I too have had a refurb'd T61p for about a month and also had a serious issue with it that required attention from warranty services. According to Lenovo, I have a one-year warranty, which is consistent with what I saw most of them had on the website. The problem I had was a line of dead pixels running horizontally across the screen on initial start up. The rub for me was that I bought the laptop in the US had it sent to my Dad's house and he brought it to me in Paris, France. So finding a dead line of pixels was a real drag. (And before someone responds that I should have had my dad check the computer -- I did, but he thought it was a line to separate the screen into two parts).
I called Lenovo warranty services gave them my info (machine type and serial number) and they immediately sent me to IBM/Lenovo financial services in Canada. Don't let them do that to you. If your warranty is in Lenovo's main system, they are required to provide warranty services for the laptop. Okay, things get better now. I called back to the main warranty line and explained the monitor problem and geographical problem that I had and they said they would be happy to fix the screen, if I could get the laptop back to the US for pick up. Evidently, you can't mail to their warranty depot from a foreign address. He suggested that I call the number in France to see if I have a international warranty (he could not tell if I did because his system was down). I called the France number, had a nice conversation with a french-speaking man from the african country of Burundi who is located in Glasgow, Scottland, and learned that I have a foreign warranty also.
Long story short, the laptop was picked up Tuesday and returned to me today (Friday) with a new monitor. That's why I bought an INTERNATIONAL Business Machines laptop (that, and my wife works for them and I really like the track point).
So you probably have a one-year warranty and may have an international warranty, too. Get your machine type and serial number off the bottom of your machine and give them a call. It's very easy. Happy hunting. rb
What, if any, warranty comes standard with reefurbs?
