And how heavy it is? I use all my current thinkpads exclusively with the smaller and lighter 65W adapter. I wonder why the new X1 is now equipped with the 90W adapter.

It's a little larger and heavier than the 65w adapter, but not bad.

I took a picture of the X1 Carbon with adapter next to it and also weighed with the adapter for travel weight (3lbs 13.7 ounces) so hope this helps (attached).

One alternative that may or may not be worth considering is Lenovo's Ultraslim A/C ($79 + $10 for the tip)
"The Lenovo Slim Power Tip enables the ThinkPad X1 Carbon to be used with the Lenovo 90W Ultraslim AC/DC Combo Adapter...This tip can also be used with the ThinkPad and Lenovo 90W Slim AC/DC Combo Adapter - Backed by a 90-day limited warranty
Lenovo Slim Power Tip | Lenovo | (US)"
Lenovo's Ultraslim Adapter (4.5" x 2.7" x 0.6"), I could find not information about itsweight other than Lenovo's statement about the Ultraslim adapter. I have the discontinued 90W "Slim Adapter" which is low in height but wide and heavy. Lenovo says that the Ultraslim's AC travel configuration is 19% lighter and 15% smaller than and the new DC travel configuration is 64% lighter and 70% smaller than the ThinkPad 90W Slim AC/DC Combo Adapter -
It's a shame that they couldnt have thrown in the slimboy as a no-cost alternate option.
Whats the footprint of the new X1 AC adapter
