I have been using an old R40 for a while now and just gave it away to family.
I have a Dell D430 from work where I thought I would never get use to a 12" screen but surprisingly have.
I know the X series is a bit expensive and I think i missed some deals when they had the X61s for 50% off.
My initial question is, which is better buy, going with X61s or X200, it seems like the X200 is better.
Next was going to be, is Lenovo expected to come out with new models soon, like an X series with HDMI port would be super sweet - anyone know? Thanks!

the current ones are going to be out for awile. The newest is the x301.
I hear they might be phasing out the x61s, hence the 50% off. -
When did they have 50% off for x61s? I'm getting one mostly because of the standard screen.

You should check the Lenovo outlet if you want a decent deal (especially on the x61s), however you can't configure these models.
I think the x200 is better if you can afford it. The widescreen transition gives you a slightly higher resolution (1280x800 vs. 1024x768) and a true full size keyboard. The x200 is also substantially more powerful due the the Medium voltage processor and superior graphics processor (x4500 is about twice as fast as the x3100 and supports acceleration of HD video decoding). The x200 also is on a 45nm process (runs cooler and more efficient), has a 1066MHz FSB, and supports DDR3 memory.
The x61s is a little less wide (if this matters to you) and includes Firewire. However, in most other ways I think the x200 is superior. -
Standard screens are taller and easier to read.

That really depends on preference and your computer usage style.
I, for one, can't imagine going back to 4:3.
The X200 is really worth a good look. It's got amazing specs for it's size, and it's got great reviews.
The X301 is pricey, but also worth a look. -
I guess I have to look around for the best price, I really regret missing out on the X61s early December for 50% any config. A friend of mine got one.
I guess, I'll just use my work D430 until then, and see if I can find a deal.
When are the new X series models coming out?
