    Hi,

I have an 8-cell battery for my X61s. I was wondering how everyone charges their battery. Is there a correct way in terms of timing. Do you only charge when it's almost done to 0% or do you constantly charge. Is there a maximum number of charge for a battery.

Lastly, I tested my battery life out yesterday when i got my laptop. I fully charged theI battery, ran my X61s on the power saving mode and go 8 hours 36 minutes. It's amazing !!. I did mostly web surfing and word processing, opening pdf's, etc. My configuration is the L7500, 4mb cache, 2GB RAM. Please advise on how often or what's the best way to charge battery.

    thats some serious battery life!

its best to charge a laptop battery once its down to about 10-15 percent. try your best not to run it down to zero as this seriously degrades the battery.

if you are plugged in, remove the battery and store it in a cool place. lots of people advise to throw it in the refrigerator, but something about putting battery chemicals with my food that turns me off. i say leave it in a closet in one of the lower floors in your house

I've read that if you leave your battery in while plugged in, leave it in until fully charged and then unplug. After about 15%-20% drain, plug back in to charge.

    Ok,

if I'm understanding this right, I should do the following. I should charge my battery when it's down to about 10-15%.

Should I be using AC power when available?. Most of the time, I can plug my laptop to an outlet. I really don't want to take out my battery when plugged in. Will this affect my battery's life when I'm plugged in. Also, the threshold to recharge my battery when plugged in is 90%. Should I change this number?.

Another question I have is, when I'm using AC power, my battery is not being used correct?. So it's OK to leave the battery in when I'm plugged into an outlet?.

According to chrisyano's faq, leaving your battery in while plugged in will heat your battery (deteriorating it) and it will use up some of its cycles...
