This has been the top concern for many people in this forum for quite a while. I've also noticed that there are generally significant differences in terms of estimated shipment time for some particular regions. (i.e. CANADA) that's why i open this new thread for people who live in Canada and have been desperately waiting for their new machines to arrive.
just like the other thread, please list your laptop configurations, order date as well as estimated shipment date(s). also, we can also share the issues and problems that you have encountered during the ordering and waiting course.
currently, my top concern is the dvd rom. on lenovo canada's website it says that if we configure a dvd rom on our machine, our orders are expected to delay 3-4 weeks to ship. so i'd like to hear if this's true and how much impact it actually makes on the shipment.
Well, good luck to everyone!

Ordered: 9/01
ESD: No notification yet, but I emailed them and they said the ESD would be 9/21
Specs are:
P8400, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, DVD recordable, 6 cell
And I live in Scarborough, Ontario too if that helps. -
I ordered on Aug. 20, with the specs:
P8600, 2GB RAM (2 dimms), 160GB HD (7200 RPM), LED screen, 6 cell, DVD burner, bluetooth, fingerprint reader, camera, Wifi link 5300, and discrete graphics
I got the email saying my laptop was shipped on Sept. 5 so it took exactly 16 days from when I placed my order.
I called in 4 or 5 times and the reps were nice and all but they were never accurate with the ESD. The first time I called I got an ESD of Aug. 29 and the last few times I called I got ESD of Sept 12 or 13.
One weird thing though is that the tracking number they gave me for UPS says the weight is 366 kg, I guess that is all the laptops they are shipping to Canada.
EDIT: I live in Toronto, Ontario. -
so that's like 3 weeks, not that bad then. btw, did you actually notice the dvd rom delay message when you ordered it?
and i used to live in scarborough for 4 years when i was doing my undergraduate in UofT, so lots of memories there -
-
Lol, off topic but I actually wanted to go to UTSC but ended up at YorkU instead XD. -
I ordered on 8/5, shipped to my california address on 8/31, Should be here in waterloo tomorrow morning.
-
I ordered August 20th - the specs are in my signature. When I ordered there was no delayed shipment notice regarding the DVD-RW. I phoned-in once and emailed my rep once to ask what the ESD was but wasn't given an answer either times.
September 5th I received a shipping confirmation email with UPS tracking. My T400 must be some super-lightweight version because UPS lists it as only weighing 133kg, as opposed to the 366kg beast that jyst is getting...that's so 1982!
So that's 12 business days after order. And right now the tracking says my machine is in Hong Kong. -
ordered on aug 22, expected to be in my hands on sept 23. i dunno how they can predict delivery date though.
im in NL -
Perhaps it's because the USD is stronger than the Canadian dollar. It's not a huge difference, dollar to dollar, but on the scale that they're selling and shipping these laptops, it may be enough that American orders will take priority.

Ordered Aug 19. Called sept 4th, CSR said min 2 weeks. Called again on Sept 5th, CSR said my credit card was rejected on Sept 2nd (Problem with credit card company
), yet i got no call or email letting me know of the problem. Sorted the problem with credit card company (Lenovo triggered a suspicious activity flag on my card) Going to call lenovo back on Monday to charge it again.
So i presume Sept 2nd would have been my shipped date. I'm in Winnipeg. (specs below) -
I ordered my T400 on Aug.12 and it arrived at my door on Aug.28
-
good luck on that
-
Ordered Aug 20.
Received confirmation on Aug 22.
Called routinely last week to check on status - it went from not being built yet on Monday, to building on Wed, to shipped on Friday - btw, the reps know nothing.
Currently arrived in Mississauga.
Hopefully delivery tomorrow. -
I'm so sad... I wake up and track the package... the freight never left hong kong. Sigh... does anyone know what "truck mechanical" means? I guess the truck crashed somewhere in Hong Kong and there are T400's littered all over the highway.
-
raxen, that's what my UPS tracking says as well. Maybe our T400's are keeping each other company as they are swept into dustpans
If you hover your mouse over the "Status: EXCEPTION" it says that an unforeseen event occurred. That's always promising. -
I was on the phone to check with UPS, and the rep had no idea what was going on.
According to her screen, the package left Hong Kong and arrived in Chicago on the 7th. Chicago is their main hub, so everything gets routed through there and sorted and then sent to their destinations. However, on the online checker it looks like the package never left Hong Kong. Lets hope it is the former... -

I asked mark over at lenovo forums, n he got me a date of sept 12th + 5-7d transit time. I think im going to cancel tomorrow, these dates are rediculous.
-
Alright, so I just called UPS and after being transferred around 4 times, they told me that the order arrived in Chicago on the 7 as well and that the exception showing up is because of the difference in time zones? I actually have no idea, but they did confirm that the package was in Chicago waiting for clearance with customs and it will then be shipped to the UPS plant in Mississauga, Ontario.
The package is 'notify for pick-up' or something along those lines for Lenovo Canada, so I'm guessing that Lenovo Canada will pick up the package (366 kgs, as shown on my tracking page) and then ship out the individual laptops to their separate address.
I'm not sure if they will provide a second shipping number for the individual shipping process, but I was wondering if, for those of you with the TRUCK MECHANICAL exception, have a tracking number ending in 1257. -
-
jyst, my tracking number ends in 1290
-
Sorry to hear for the folks who had their orders cancelled due to credit card issues. I made sure for certain to notify my credit card company that I was going to be making the purchase and to authorize all charges from lenovo. You should always do that. I made the mistake with Dell and that delayed my order too. Dell never notified me either.
I guess if all goes well, the shipment should be in my hands by Wednesday. I guess Lenovo shipping estimate was right - it would be exactly 3 weeks time since I ordered online.
My tracking number ends in 1290 as well. -
Did you received the UPS tracking number in the shipping confirmation email? UPS tracking number is also for orders shipped to Canada?
Did you received your laptop T400 at home (Canada) via UPS? -
-
Lenovo canada is way incompetant imo
-
if you have someone who can place the order for you in states, then you can drive down there and pick it up. that won't be too bad either. just be careful with the tax when you cross the boarder -
I ordered August 20th. When I ordered there was no delayed shipment notice regarding the DVD-RW. On the September 5th I received a shipping confirmation email. But with No UPS tracking number.

Same, I got 2 mails like 5 min ago saying it was shipped but no ups tracking number
-
It seems like the tracking number is for the freight package anyway, since shein_98 and I got the same number. In that package are hundreds of computers. The tracking number is not for your laptop specifically.
No updates from UPS. Sigh... -
Strange, since my tracking # when I got my T400 tracked it right to when it was delivered to my door and listed my name as who signed for it.

So did everyone get a shipping confirmation email when your notebook was shipped from China? Did you get this automatically?
I talked to a rep this morning who said that my T400 had been built and was currently being shipped from China to the Lenovo warehouse in ON, in a bulk shipment with other Lenovo notebooks. He said there was no tracking number that I could get for this. He also said that it would ship as an individual unit from this warehouse, but that I wouldn't automatically get an email or tracking number, but would have to call them again to get it? Can anyone confirm or deny that this is how it works?
Why does Lenovo make ordering and receiving their computers such a difficult process? You would think that a company that does most of the business online would put together a more seamless ordering and shipping process. -
I got an email automatically last Friday when it shipped.
-
Sadly lenovo Canada still suffers from faulty ordering system:

http://www.digitaljournal.com/artic..._Uncovers_Nationwide_Internal_Flaws_at_Lenovo
You can't check order status online or look for shipping estimates, mostly representatives on phone tell you that your order hasn't processed yet or ask you to wait further. Our company's computer guy tells us it's some supply chain problem they have been having since almost an year.
Best wishes to all fellow Canadians waiting for their systems to arrive from lenovo. -
My credit card show the amount of my order "not factured" ... Is it normal to have this on your account before they ship it or it got shipped and I didnt get a notice saying so?

Mine has the same status also raxen
.
I was wondering if your credit cards were charged yet? A few days ago, it was not yet charged but the amount was applied to how much credit I was given and now the amount is back to before I purchased the laptop. When do they normally charge my credit card for the laptop? -
Hey guys. Just wondering, how long did it take for your guys to receive a tracking # after you first ordered the laptop? I'm just looking for an estimated time frame so that I can plan around it.
-
I asked for my order to be expedited. Obviously it is meaningless. Credit card not yet charged. ****... i'm tired of waiting....
-
Anybody have experience as to how Lenovo ships to Canada? Will they give us another tracking number for each individual since they seem to have sent people the same one for the bulk shipment?
-
-
The bulk shipment of laptops to Lenovo Canada was delivered today. I called into Lenovo and was given another tracking number specific to my purchase and address and the rep said that I won't receive an email with it, so I suggest you call into Lenovo and ask for your tracking number.
