I'm anxious for news of upcoming Lenovo laptops. I check here and read Engadget.com on a daily basis. Where should I be focusing my attention for new information as soon as it comes out? My dream is that they'll release a ThinkPad capable of running Battlefield 3 on low settings. I've had my eyes on the W520 for quite a while now. I know it's not built for gaming, it's got a workstation GPU, but honestly I spend the majority of my time in front of the computer surfing the web. I'd rather have a durable high-quality business-grade laptop with a very nice keyboard, matte finish, and LONG BATTERY LIFE than have a machine that I might not be able to finish a 3 hour movie on unplugged and attracts fingerprints like magnets. To me, to buy a laptop that is NOT a Lenovo ThinkPad is simply NOT AN OPTION. I fix laptops full-time and any time I get a ThinkPad in my hands it's a pleasure to work on and I want one for myself more and more badly every day. But I don't see ThinkPads often, and I think I know why. They're built to last, not to look pretty and be a pain in the rear end to fix when it breaks.
As much as I love having a gaming desktop, I'd really just rather have ONE computer that is portable and does what I expect it to do. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask Lenovo to throw a better GPU for gaming into an Optimus-enabled workstation laptop. The 2000m is cool and all and can play Bad Company 2 on medium settings no-sweat but I'd like something capable of playing Battlefield 3 and ESPECIALLY PlanetSide 2 on a 27" external secondary monitor. That dream of mine is just not going to happen this year or even the next, is it?

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
I don't think they are doing any refreshes anytime soon, supposedly they follow an 18 month product cycle, but Ivy Bridge is due out next year, perhaps they are launching something next year. For specific models, look up the tabook.

i think if Lenovo fixes the TOLUD issue then you could just get an eGPU and a powerful desktop graphics card to play games with.

18 Months? I thought the industry standard is 12.

I ain't expecting anything new until at least next spring.... tho Lenovo might release some re-jigged consumer machines for Xmas

Spring sounds about right. In both 2010 and 2011 they had updates for the CES in January, together with Intel's new mobile platform announcements. Things were then available in April or so...
Either way, Ivy Bridge should be a real step forward worth looking forward to. -
