You can already order them from third party sellers (e.g CalCellular).

    Black

    White

    Both are $68.88+Shipping

I can find through Google that Lenovo is offering 6-cell in China and Germany...

I also found some on ebay but am a little concerned about the quality of those 3rd party batteries... Nowadays, even original batteries have all kinds of safety problems...

Why don't you buy a used OEM battery. I have a USED OEM 6 cell battery for $55! It lasts almost up to the 100% capacity and it's 100% OEM from Lenovo.

Yours is for a T60/T61, the OP wants one far an S10. They are of substantially different shapes and not compatible.

I'm waiting for this too. S10's been out for a while now. I thought the 6cells would come out before the end of 2008 but I haven't heard anything yet.

Seems like most netbooks besides the EEE 1000 only have 3cell versions available.

You already can buy the battery. Is the issue that you want to order the 6 cell with the netbook instead of having both?

Yes, I usually don't buy two batteries for my laptop. A 3 cell isn't enough but a 6 cell would be. If I did buy two I would probably want to get two 6 cells.

Thanks for the link above. Seems strange that you can't buy the battery from Lenovo and they don't offer it as a configurable part if it's available for purchase elsewhere...

Now it is available from Lenovo but you have to pay $89 and you have to keep the 3 cell as well...

    Hrm. I don't really want a 3cell and I'm definitely not paying $89. :p

I'll wait until it comes with the machine.

They are available with 6 cell now. Does that add a lot to the weight and size?

It will stick out, and figure the battery is about double the weight of the 3-cell. There's always a slight tradeoff of weight and portability for longer time away from the wall.
