Just wondering if anyone knows when Lenovo Canada is planning on introducing Penryn options on the T61 line.

If Lenovo Canada cannot even tell you if and when your order has shipped, do you think they know themselves when we will be getting Penryns in Canada? :p

We don't have any Lenovo Canada moles posting leaks here so I think you will just have to wait and see.

Central Direct ( www.cendirect.com) in Quebec has a few T61s listed with Penryn CPUs, estimated arrival dates in their warehouse from February 24 to 29. Actually I don't know if that is in their warehouse or Lenovo's warehouse since other retailers give the same dates. These are pre-configured, no customization.

    Ooo!....

I just read on t-pad forums that Penryn won't be available for sale in Canada until sometime late March!

The visa perks website has the option of selecting penryn cpus right now. Everything costs $0 though, so I think it's an error.

r61 already has penryns. t61 would be next. i think they want to get rid of some excess inventory before they bring in the new stuff. dec 2007 was pretty bad for many online retailers and manufs alike. i dont think lenovo is an exception. i would expect their entire line to be penryn equipped by april.

I think the original question was aimed at getting an answer as to why the rest of the world is getting Penryns as an option and Lenovo Canada customers don't have access to those CPUs at all....

We're talking about computers ordered from Lenovo Canada, not some computer supermarket down the street!

Nope. They're not just "across the street".....they have warehouses all over the place and cater to big businesses too. There's just no BTO. I've gotten a great price for my T61 which would have costed me a bit more had I ordered from Lenovo Canada....more money and time.

Don't just jump to conclusions if you're never had experience with them. No complaints about CDW yet from any forum poster, so if you're in Canada, these are the guys you should contact.

And to be quite honest, these pricings for thinkpads loaded with penryns are pretty sweet. You should browse through their site and read the specs carefully and not just go "nope. nope. Not lenovo canada. will not buy. nope nope nope.".
