When will Lenovo update the Y550?

I'm looking to buy a laptop before September and right now the Ideapad Y550 is my top choice. However, I don't really like the shiny exterior and would much rather prefer the rubber-like exterior of the Y450 or Y650. Does anyone know if there's any chance that Lenovo might give the rubber-like exterior option to the Y550 any time soon? This option is available for the Y550 in gray in China.


Also, will there be other updates to the Y550 in the US in the next couple of months? I was looking at the Chinese website and there were some differences in color of laptop, etc. Would it be worthwhile to wait to order or should i take advantage of the awesome deals now?

The Y550, quite literally, just hit the market in the US (not sure if your in the US though). In fact, the first person on the board to get one just posted yesterday or the day before. I had a Y450 on order, but got goofed around a bit on my order and got tired of waiting.

That said, there is speculation that there will be updates (such as as a more powerful nVidia 1xx series GPU, and certainly more CPU offerings.

As to the rest, someone better qualified than I should comment. Just want to point out that the Y550 is brand spanking new to the US at this point.

 

There are people just receiving 550's with the gt130m equipped even though the website says 105m. I'm willing to bet those with 450's will receive at 110m (as written in the spec sheet) instead of the 105m on the website.
