When will the "Shipping Bug" Be Resolved...

Hi all,
I ordered a T61 and agreed to a 6-09-07 shipping day...
Now it says Aug 29...
When will this be fixed? Does anyone Know?

 

I am not certain when it will be fixed....or if it will. However, if they do not correct it this week, they will not correct it until the issue reaches accounting and their accountants deem this issue financial loss due to higher volume of phone calls. Downside of large corporations.

 

I bet It's all "Brian Meyer's Fault"...

If that happened to me, I would be cancelling the order. No laptop is worth a 2 month wait, especially since they'll probably hold your credit card hostage for the entire time.

 

i already posted their internal memo, what more info do you need. if you arent comfortable, just cancel it, or have your buddy Meyer cancel it

 

Is there one piece of hardware that is causing the delay or are the computers just backed up in general? I’m hoping it’s the former and that I didn’t order that part in my computer!! Anyone know?

 

i would guess that lenovo grossly underestimated the popularity of the new T61 with SR. There are VERY few other options at this time, as Dell hasnt even announced their upcoming XPS and Inspiron SR models. If Lenovo cant fill these orders quickly, im sure many will turn away from them. But the die hard Thinkpad fans will stick around and even purchase it through retail.

 

Just got off the phone with lenovo. Sales rep says their is something wrong with the t61's and that the factory is rejecting them. She says they're working on the problem and that there will be a delay of 2-3 weeks at the minimum. So I'm looking at waiting 2 months to pay more than I was gonna pay for any other laptop I was thinking of purchasing. Good job lenovo...I will be calling to get compensation in some way. What is reasonable to ask for? Free express shipping and $100 off? I'm thinking of cancelling now but what difference would it make. I would have to wait 2-3 weeks to get a computer from dell or hp anyway.

 

i think out of the three you mentioned, lenovo has proven to be the slowest. Many new SR HPs are being delivered, and once dell announces the new Insirons with SR, they should ship wihin 2 weeks (ive never had a dell take longer than the estimated time) If your case is the same as mine, then I willl soon be cancelling or wait for the T61p

if you chose to wait, others have reported 5-10% discounts offered by lenovo...doenst hurt to ask i guess

 

I agree. I think Lenovo is having a general availability problem with parts. This is not atypical when ordering new hardware when it first releases. It's part of the pain of being on the bleeding edge.

I ordered mine retail this morning and I'm currently on hold with Lenovo to cancel my order. I'm sure they'll ship ASAP, but it's just not convenient for me to wait right now. I'm also a little apprehensive that the retail channel will start running short soon.

its a bad sign that a company cant resolve this type of problem within a day. Quite silly IMO.

 

Larger companies like this take longer time to correct these errors as the channels of communication as well as the holiday weekend would affect this. I am at work and things are falling apart as there are people still on vacation or delays happening as well.

Hopefully, the 2 to 3 weeks of delay was overstated to compensate for any unforeseen issues as well.

 

So true, I was thinking the exact same thing when I checked this morning to see my 5/30 est shipping date change to 8/30.
