I can't find the category online where we can buy keyboard replacement for Thinkpad T61. All I can see is keyboard adds-on, the big external keyboards. Does anyone know when/how to buy T61 keyboard? (This is for replacing the one with problem) Thank you in advance :)

You can buy it through Lenovo, but they are seriously going to overcharge you - a replacement keyboard costs $141 plus tax and shipping. You are going to have better luck on eBay.

Thanks, Charr. Do you know where is the webpage on lenovo site that shows T61 keyboard for sale? I have warranty extension and need to know the price.

Go to Lenovo.com search for T61 keyboard get the keyboard part numbers. Then if you are in the US got to IBM Parts and search for the keyboard part numbers. I came up with $50 to $139, depending on whether you are picky about your manufacturer (suggest removing yours to find out who made it).

Not sure where Charr's price came from.

Buy it direct from IBM. Get the part number. They're reasonably priced, you'll get it in a couple of days and it will be new.

I noticed something strange on IBM's parts website.

    42T3209 - Alps
    42T3273 - Chicony
    42T3143 - NMB

You know how some people on this board and the ThinkPad board ranked T61 keyboards with NMB being the best, ALPS being next, and CHICONY being last.

Well on IBM's website, the prices for the three keyboard manufacturers were different. NMB was the cheapest ($49.50), ALPS was more expensive ($73.73), and the CHICONY was the most expensive ($138.56)!

    Wow!

Thank you all so much! I finally found the pages you are talking about.

A little more input would be appreciated: of the following two:

    U.S. English
U.S. English (International, with a Euro symbol)

Is having Euro symbol the only difference? If so, why is the latter actually a few dollars cheaper?

And by the way why is NMB the cheapest, as pacmandelight noticed? Is it still the best?

Would one lose anything by having the International U.S. English with Euro symbol?

I sure wish it even cheaper :D Only skepticism is, if the best one is the cheapest, wouldn't everyone order it instead of others?
