I had a HDD in my T60 which had ATA password set. Also I had power-on password set. Both passwords were filled by fingerprint.

I thought the whole time, that fingerprints are stored in TPM.

But I put this old HDD to a ultrabay of my new W520 (with no passwords set at all) to do a backup, and the W520 wanted power-on password via my fingerprint! It also wanted ATA password (which is right), but the ATA password I wrote on this HDD didn't work. I am sure I put it right, because then I disable the ATA password on my T60 with the same phrase.

So how is it possible, that power-on password is related that way, and how is it possible that the new machine knew my fingerprints?

    Thanks
