Why is nVidia not releasing new drivers for the 700M series yet? Doesn't seem to be anything past the 311.whatever that my Y400 came with. The new 320.14 betas for Metro Last Light came out today but still nothing, anybody else frustrated by this? Is there a way to make them install that I don't know about, and if so is there any reason not to do that?
-
Don't do it. Be patient they will come.
-
Patience.
Posting on an internet forum won't make them come any faster. Espeically forums that aren't owned or moderated by nVidia.
This is the double-edged sword of getting the latest-and-greatest computer hardware. You get the fastest and shiniest toy on the block. But sometimes, you need to wait for "everything else" about owning that product to catch up with you

There's no reason not to use the latest beta driver. It's Windows signature enforcement preventing you from doing it, and also partly due to Nvidia not adding the GPU into the inf file. Refer to this post on how to install 320.14 driver: Lenovo Y400 / Y500 - unlocked BIOS / wlan whitelist mod - Page 48
-
Awesome I'll try this tonight, thanks!
-
Got it done, didn't have to disable driver signing enforcement to do it, I just generated the custom inf and put it in the folder and ran the setup and it installed and all looks good, thanks again!
-
Did you notice any improvements with the latest drivers? My computer is having stuttering issues and I was hoping maybe a driver update would fix those issues.
-
+1 I'll go through the trouble of doing this if any differences are even seen..
-
Need to try Metro Last Light again to see if it sped that up any, but I will say that Defiance seems smoother for sure, it wasn't hard to do so I'd say give it a shot, didn't take me a few minutes.

FYI, I just downloaded the 320.14 beta drivers from NVidia for the GT740M and installed on my GT750M SLI machine like normal. Just extract and install. I'm running Win 7 Pro 64.
-
I did that but had a problem while it was installing got a black screen then it started beeping, I left it for a few mins and still had the black screen so i unplugged everything rebooted and the drivers worked tomb raider now works in sli.

does the new nvidia driver work with y500 gt750m sli ?
-
Yes.. We said this lol

Does it work installed directly from the site, or do I need to create the ini with the 750M?
-
No need to meddle with the .inf file. You can install it straight away from the driver without any changes. Though I recommend to remove the old driver, ccleaner, driver sweeper or fusion (whichever you have), restart and then install the new driver. Do this without being connected to the internet as windows always tends to install the driver.
-
Install the 740M version it works with literally no problems
-
What are the temperatures you guys normally get while gaming ?
-
Playing Battlefield 3, gpu 1 is about 70-75, gpu 2 is about 74-78. Playing on medium settings.
-
Just got done doing about a 2 and a half hour session, gpu 1 max temp 68, gpu 2 max temp 74. On medium settings.

I just downloaded the 320.14 beta drivers from NVidia for the GT740M and installed them on my y410p machine and its still not working, the installer fails.
Do you guys know how to get all the drivers going for this computer?(graphics especially, obviously)
I replaced the 5400hdd for a Samsung SSD and did fresh OEM install of Win8 and now I am having problems finding all of the drivers in general. For instance i'm plugging in my monitor and says to re install my graphics driver. At this point I dont even know if the onboard Intel 4000HD onboard graphics is working..help -
320.18 WHQL = Y510p Geforce 750m sli = not working=(
-
They aren't out yet, have patience. If you want it though you should download the 740m driver.
-
So you have confirmed the 740m driver works on the SLI Y510?
-
sure, only because nvidia forget to include ID's in inf file...
-
nope, doesnt work on my y510p with sli 750m
-
Has anyone tried editing the inf to include the 750m SLI?
-
Did they just come out today?
NVIDIA DRIVERS 320.49WHQL

From what I'm reading on the Nvidia forum, I'm not sure I want to install this right away. Any brave souls out there willing to try it?

I don't understand the obsession with constantly upgrading the drivers. As long as the games I play work and I have no freezes or crashes I see no reason to upgrade the drivers at all. Years ago I had an ASUS G73 with ATI 5870 and I remember all the threads with people going through crazy machinations to get the latest ATI catalyst drivers to work all while I playing Company of Heroes and Age of Empires 3 and some Starcraft 2. I think I upgraded once to fix a specific issue but after that I never updated anything except the important Windows updates. I only use these Windows machines for gaming and never update unless I'm having a problem. I like to spend the little free time I have to play, actually playing... not troubleshooting the latest driver install.

For most drivers, you would be correct.
However, with graphics drivers, there is actually a performance benefit by upgrading drivers. After a new game gets released, the next graphics driver release Wil often contain optimizations for that specific game, and contain SLI profiles (so multi-GPU configurations will work properly). That is the practical benefit of keeping graphics drivers up to date.

I understand, especially since this is my first SLI machine so I suppose it's more important now than it has been in the past. However, this machine is very new and all my games work (I do tend to play the same games for years!) so I'm not looking to jump on the latest greatest drives just yet.
I guess I'll just watch these and the Geforce forums to determine the reliability of any new drivers before jumping in.

For nVidia, you don't need to worry about driver quality. NVidia driver quality is absolutely rock solid. They are definitely on their game.
This is different than ATI / AMD, who have a history of poorer driver quality, and is actually one of the big advantages to picking nVidia over ATI / AMD

So I took your advice on a Z585 I own with AMD 7660 and sure enough the Windows experience score jumped from 4.6 to 6.6 on the GPU. The out of the box drivers were so old. Now that it's up and running and the games are much smoother I will probably leave it alone but I suppose there is some value in at least exploring newer drivers.

I did it. 311.27 to 320.49.
3D Mark11
FS
311.27 - 2955
320.49 - 3128
Y500
GT 750M SLI
16g Ram -
On a related note, I would recommend you check out a piece of software from nVidia called the GeForce Experience. It is a tool that can automatically adjust game graphics detail settings so that they run at 50-60 fps. In addition, it also keeps your nVidia drivers up to date automatically.
It is intended for exactly your use case. You don't want to waste time fiddling with drivers or game settings. You want to just jump into a game and play. It's an awesome piece of software for doing that.

Hi guys, I wanted to know which drivers should I download for my Y510P, I currently have the 331.65 drivers but the SLI options are nowhere to be seen in the Nvidia control panel! Please if you could help me... I'm just frustrated, i7, 16gb ram, SLI graphics and can't play as I should because of some stupid drivers!
