I currently own a Thinkpad X200 Tablet convertible, a Thinkpad X120e and 2 Thinkpad X200s, I purchased a Thinkpad Tablet 2, when it first come out and I love it. But I am considering moving away from my X200 models, and was looking for the next X series Tablet convertible and found that these have been discontinued. So I am hoping that someone can steer me in the correct direction.
What I am looking for:
1. X Series Tablet Convertible
2. Touch Screen and Pen Touch Screen
3. Compatible with Windows 8/Windows 8 Pro
Does such a model exist?? If not, any recommendations as an alternative.
Please bare with me, I have been a Thinkpad Tablet convertible FAN since the first one, yes, I had an X41 Tablet convertible with a 60GB drive and then moved to an X60, I still have the X60 with Windows XP Tablet 2005 and installed Window 8 Pro on another hard drive, which gave me the idea to find a newer Tablet convertible.
Any comments would be appreciated.

The biggest issue that you're going to run into is W8.x compatibility, since neither X220T (Sandy Bridge, 7-row conventional keyboard) not X230T (Ivy Bridge, 6-row island keyboard) were ever sold with W8, as they don't meet the official MS requirements for that OS.
Will W8.x work on them? Yes.
How well will it meet your specific needs and requirements will be up to you to decide.
Good luck. -

Ever since they stopped making "real" X series convertible tablets ending with the X230t, there hasn't been a laptop to fit that niche. TBH I highly doubt Lenovo would make another X convertible tablet because; it was already a niche market already, the price was so expensive with so many convertible/hybrid laptop/tablets on the market. If Lenovo made an X convertible tablet that fit all my needs, I would have no qualms paying 2-3k for it.

X230T was a piece of sh17. Search my previous thread on them. It is such a sTinkpad that I do not want to be in the same room with it.
Lenovo effectively killed rotating convertible Thinkpads with the X230T. Good think you stopped at X230T, just image how sh17 X240T would have been if they released it. -
I've never owned a X230T - no 6-row keyboard on a ThinkPad for this old fool - but have gone through several X220T units. They felt somewhat delicate when compared to their older siblings and the touchpad (which I don't use anyway) was a sheer disaster. Apart from that, they worked well...personally, my favourite was the pen-only "outdoor" model, but to each their own.

What's wrong with the ThinkPad Yoga? It meets most requirements apart from being an X-series model. I reviewed one back when it was still quite new and I liked it a lot. I even own one myself now. I have also owned a X200T, so if you have any comparison questions, I'll be glad to answer them.
You can read my up my review here. -
why does the yoga in your review have digitizer when yours aren't a wacom model?
-
The Yoga in the review was a review model that I was given for testing. I only acquired the Yoga that I own now a few days ago.
-
As others have said, the 230t was the last. Note that it shouldn't have issues with win 8. I got everything up and running on a Sandy Bridge Elitebook, so I don't foresee a problem for the 220 or 230. Nowadays there is only Fujitsu and Panasonic that make traditional tablet PCs afaik.

I hate chiclet keyboards so the obvious choice was the X220 tablet. The trackpad is horrible but the nipple mouse works great. Windows 8 works just fine on it, but i much prefer windows 7.

Some great feedback and appreciate each and everyone, gave me the answer I needed.
Last model, X230T, may work/may not, I will look at used price and if they are reasonable, and I will take the challenge.
The YOGA as an alternative, possible, sell my X200/X60 Stack of thinkpads (I sold my stack of X40s, last year) and get that one.
I have used the XT3 from Dell, at work, (my recommendation, I am the hardware/software guy in the IT dept.), but then one of the EXECUTIVEs, needed one, so I had to give it up and they gave me a M6500, bigger but more power.
Okay, great, I will review the X230T and the YOGA.
Appreciate all the comments. -
If you can't get a hold of those two, other alternatives include the Fujitsu T734, T904, T902 and the HP Elitebook 2760p. They aren't Lenovo though and the 2760p is lacking in modern ports and it has a minuscule touchpad, decent trackpoint though. There are user reviews of some of those laptops, including the X series over at TabletPCreview and you will find a larger user pool over there than on NBR.

X230T Sucks! It's not a ThinkPad, it's a StinkPad. The last Thinkpad Tablet is the X201T.
A brief description of the X230T.
A laptop that wobbles on three feet when battery is taken out. This is a Tablet, I need to use it to write things on it, so it needs to be completely flat, when the battery is in, it's at an angle, when it's taken out, it wobbles.
The battery is fat and ugly.
The battery switch in now located on the laptop instead of the battery, which means I need two hands to take the battery out.
The finger scanner no longer have metal bit in it.
All the lights have been removed except for wifi and harddisk
Tablet shortcut menu button is gone??! How am I going to change brightness in tablet mode?
Trackpad buttons are flattened out, reducing the tactile feeling.
Only spin one way into tablet mode.
Latch is missing.
Sh177y low screen resolution and display.
DO NOT BUY STINKPAD X230 TABLET
Buy the Fujitsu T904! It destroys the X230T in every single aspect. If you can not afford it, get the Yoga. -
Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-ThinkPad-12-5-Inch-Convertible-Touchscreen/dp/B008OJAODM @ $899
Lenovo Outlet: Lenovo Outlet  | Lenovo US @ $1024.22
Now, the Yoga:: Lenovo Yoga Laptop Series | Convertible Entertainment Laptops  | Lenovo US Starting at $599.00, that is something to think about, being more recent product.
I will be looking around. -
The lenovo Yoga does not have a digitizer.
-
There are Yoga models with the pen in the outlet but they don't last very long and are closer to $900. If you decide that the Fuji is an option, there are T902s in the outlet that are selling for less than $1K. Only HD+ display but an awesome unit.

Thinkpad Yoga looks very good.

Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
I am considering buying an X200 or X201 tablet. Screen is the main concern currently. Located some X200ts, they have either HV121WX4-120 or LTN121AP03-001. Which one is better and why? To be honest, I would prefer an outdoor version, but which screen does it have, for reference? Another thing that bothers me - is there a modified BIOS for X200 tablet without whitelists?
-
I was not impressed with either/or. YMMV.
A long discussion here:

Yes there is.
I don't know what you're looking to spend, but I'd skip to X220T with an outdoor panel and call it a day...Starlight5 likes this. -

ajkula66, after having a look at x200t today I've decided to follow your advice and go for x220t, maybe even x230t despite the latter having chiclet keyboard. However, there is no chance I'm getting any of them with outdoor screen locally, so here's another question - how much will it cost me to upgrade x220t to outdoor screen myself?
-
Would you mind defining "locally" ?
My advice would be to go straight for the outdoor model, you may want to post a WTB (want to buy) ad at Bill Morrow's ThinkPad Forum's Marketplace, and someone might come to the rescue...

ajkula66, in the country where I am now there is only one X220 tablet for sale now, ~$320, it has LP125WH2-SLB1 according to PC Wizard. And they have some weird custom taxes, so it's either I buy here or wait for some time before I'm out of here and order internationally.
-
Hmmm...I'd grab that X220T then if they're so scarce over there, and then take my time looking for the extra parts. My understanding is that you'll have to swap the entire lid, and not just the screen itself.
Good luck.Starlight5 likes this. -

Someone grabbed that X220T before me. =\ On the bright side, it turned out there are problems with certain international shipping companies here, not with all international shipping, so I'll create a topic on that nice forum, or maybe even just grab something from eBay auction.
I reviewed my priorities and read the some more about those tablets. X230t has better GPU, USB3.0 in all configurations, can be outfitted with X220 keyboard if necessary, however has problems with aftermarket batteries unlike X220t. I figure both X230t and X220t have same 100% CPU load problem with Nvidia eGPU and over 8GB RAM, both can be modded to accomodate 9.5mm HDD instead of 7mm, and neither has throttling issues once upgraded to latest BIOS. So, generally, X230t is better in all aspects except price, or am I missing something? -
This is incorrect.
While the keyboard from X220T will physically fit into X230T, many keys will remain non-functional.
If the classic 7-row keyboard is a big deal to you, stay with X220T. If it's not go with X230T.Starlight5 likes this.
Where are the last of the great X200 Tablets?, Touch Screen??
